two weeks out- what is everyone eating?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

It seems like I'm always starving and when I eat a bite of cottage cheese, it just hurts going down. Were you all still on the broth stage at this point?

Thanks!

im 2 weeks out and on puree for the last week. I have to space out eating and shakes. But, I am doing ok. My BIG problem is eating too quick and then it sits in my throat once it catches up to me for a half hour. I eat string cheese, well chewed, refried Beans w/ melted cheese, scrambled egg, puree'd Soup (not a fan), puree'd chili (really good!).

Did you try switching it up and trying somthing new? It doesnt hurt to eat for me, but, it is uncomfortable if I eat too much too quick, and I mean a few little bites. I did try Peanut Butter on a spoon, definately did not agree w me. I will try again in a week. Good luck!

I'm 2 weeks out as well. I also have issues if I eat too fast. Try getting a baby spoon & eating with that. Definitely slows you downsmile.gif, I've been eating scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes & Soup, Going to try cottage cheese tomorrow.

Good luck!

I didn't have a real mushie state - I went from full liquids to being able to have tuna, fish, canned chicken, crackers, cottage cheese, eggs, oatmeal, applesauce, etc. Which sort of sounds like mushie except no potatoes and no puree Soups. I would love some wendy's pureed chili - I can have bean Soup but not ground beef yet.

I think we all progress at different rates, what works one day may not work the next and vice versa. I remember posting here at about 2 months post that I could hardly eat 2 bites of tuna fish when I took my son out and I was concerned that would never change. Let me tell ya,, you will be able to eat again , not huge amounts, but you will eat and even be hungry at times! The pain will go away too, you have lots of swelling from the healing going on.

I was sleeved on 8/25 so today I'm 15 days out. Most days all I can manage to get in are two Protein shakes and two teaspoons of either cottage cheese or ricotta. I tried refried Beans a few days ago and it was not good. I'm definately struggling to get my calories up.

My weight loss has not been good either, My first week (during the clear liquid week) was 11 lbs but in the last week I have only lost 1 lb. I'm hoping it's my body's way of playing catch up as I'm only averaging 250 calories daily.

I loved eating hummus at this stage. It is very mushy and savory tasting. A good break from the sweet shakes.< /p>

Hello everyone! I'm sorta new to the forum but am loving reading everyone's experiences. I am 11 days post op and I still dont know what all I should eat. My biggest fear is eating too much and feeling sick or pain. (I actually got tempted w/ half a chicken nugget yesterday and omg biggest mistake! I felt like it got stuck in between my esophagus & stomach even though I chewed it a hundred times) :/ my tummy also hurts when I am hungry. Is that normal? My surgeon tells me the pains and Spasms will get better but I still feel like I'm stuck in a hole. :: sighs :: Anywho, best wishes to everyone :)

I found that Protein Shakes take away my hunger and the Water helps me feel full too. because i feel hungry at times I dont wait too long to eat, I have my Snacks or meals which isnt very much. but its a balance throughout the day to stay satisfied. I also use fitness pal (.com) and that helps me stay in a good range of calories/protein/carbs. I average 700 calories a day and I lose every few days. I am happy so far. But, I too am one of the people who get hungry. Hopefully it will pass. Good luck.

I'm going through the same thing. I lost 18 preop, 11 the first week and 1 single little lbs since. How discouraging. I do think it has to do with too little calories and not enough liquids.

I'm exactly two weeks out today and still on the full liquids and will be for the next two weeks....I'm planning on calling my surgeon though and asking if that included purees now... shakes, yogurt, Water, blended Soups ( I buy many different flavors, in light, or course, and put them in the food processor). I tried a couple table spoons of Peanut Butter in 12 ounces of fat free milk and two scoops of vanilla Protein Powder. I broke it down into three 4 oz servings....it was great...I miss peanut butter!! My roomate cooked pot roast with potatoes and carrots Sunday; we took all of that and a good deal of the stock that was created and processed that into soup..tasted just like Sunday dinner should! There is a "for dummies" cookbook out there for weight loss surgery patients find really good. can't wait to try some of the recipes! I keep feeling like there is something wrong with me because I don't seem to be having any issues ! I can get my fluids in, if I drink them too fast, it doesn't seem to really matter...I accidentally did 8 ounces in thirty minutes yesterday instead of 4 and no biggie....It makes me worry that something didn't work! I'm actually looking forward to the day something screams "STOP" so I can have the reassurance that everything is as it should be!! Anyone else with that issue? I'd love to hear your input.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
