Surgery tues! Anyone have complications?

Recommended Posts

My surgery is on Tuesday! I'm so excited. As it draws closer I'm just curious how common complications really are. Anyone on here have any problems at any time after the surgery? I know all of the possible issues, I am a nurse. I am young (27) so I know I am not a high risk but just wondering about the "what Ifs." Not scAred just curious! Thanks!

My surgery is on Tuesday, as well! I am excited, but scared and nervous at the same time. I have been wanting this for so long, and now that it's finally here I am starting to freak out a little bit. I was sold on getting the band and never thought I would consider anything different until my nutritionist appt 3 weeks ago. She changed my mind, and now I am getting the sleeve. The band was so appealing because I knew I could have it removed and adjusted as needed. Well, the sleeve isn't either one of those, but I feel better with this surgery choice. I am 42 with 2 children, ages 13 and 5, and I have a wonderful husband. I would like to lose about 100 lbs. I look forward to seeing your updates and walking this journey alongside you. I will be praying for you on Tuesday!!

Thanks, ladies!

BlessednGA....same day! I will let you know how it goes and you do the same!

Nurselisa22....good for you! I can't believe you went back so soon! I have 6 weeks of leave time....not sure how much I will take off! What kind of nursing do you do? I work in a hospital on a step-down unit with a cardiac focus. I love being a Nurse and just finished NP classes ad graduate in December! Good luck with the rest of your journey!

I'm a Lpn at a family practice so it's very light nursing. I will be a RN in December. Congrats on the NP! That's my ultimate goal we'll see I'm not a school fan!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
