I was sleeved on Tuesday and the pain is getting better day by day. However, when I breathe I literally have to stand still and hold the left side of my stomache. There is a sharp pain through my stomache and my shoulder simultaneously. Anyone experience this before?

It most likely the gas they used to fill your stomach during surgery. Also, the left incision is were they pull the stomach out. It will be sore the longest especially when you sneeze or cough.

I'm 9 days out from my surgery and had some pain when I took a deep breath, but I could tell it was muscle pain. I also had some pain in my side for a couple of days after my drain was taken out. If you give it a couple of days and it doesn't get better, call your Doctor.

I also had the same pain, but mine happened about 2wks out and lasted for close to a week. When I called the Dr.'s office they said that it was likely referred pain, meaning that the actual source of the pain was someplace else, but that is where my body is showing it. It was severe in that anytime I coughed, laughed and moved in certain ways it was excruciating. It should go away within a week or so.

Hi,

I was sleeved on 8/8 and I had the same issue. Yesterday, I put a abdominal support binder and I haven't had any issues. Now I can walk and I don't have to hold my side...Maybe you just need a little extra support.

Can I use that if I still have my drainage tube?

Hi,

I wouldn't use anything until the drain is out. Sorry, my drain was removed on 8/17.

I had the same pain and hard to breathe. It gets alittle better each day. hang in there. The left side pain is the worse, especially getting up and sitting down. After getting up it hurt so bad i couldnt breath at all! I still have pain in my shoulders from gas.

My doctor told me I could take the GAS X chewables if the gas pain got uncomfortable, I used them as soon as I got home and only had to take 2 doses that day before I was feeling much better!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
