First sleevers, how is everyone doing?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on Aug.22, just 5 days ago. I am still on Clear Liquids and I am really sick of broth and Gatorade. Water does not seem to go down well. My husband has the same problem with water and his surgery was 6 weeks ago. Cold things cause great pain, so popsicles are out. My surgeon says that the cold causes spasms and that is what causes pain. Room temp and warm things go down much easier. I choked down the Protein bullet(shot), There is no improving the taste. My doc offers Bariatric Advantage products and they have nectar drinks. They have good protein, they have lots of different flavors and they taste pretty good. You can find it online at BariatricAdvantage.com. Finally weaning myself off of the pain meds. Choking down all the Vitamins right now is a challenge. My husband says that it gets better. I have lost 30 lbs total including preop, and 4 lbs since surgery. My ticker tape is out of date because I can't remember how to change it and my husband has to do it and he isn't home right now.

All you have to do is click on your ticker itself and it will take you to a link so you can change it. :D

Surgery was 8/15... Wed I upgrade to puree (I hope). I am doing good on getting in liquids and protien... Some things like certain cream Soups don't sit too well. I haven't even tried to track my calorie intake. I have been on a stall the last several days so i'm down 9#s since surgery and 59 all together. I have a tight stitch or whatever it is too.. I can't wait to be able to stretch without pain.

My surgery was also the 15th and I was doing well with loss until about 3 days ago when the scale stopped moving. I did start soft foods today which was awesome - I felt like a kid in a candy store - what to eat first? :) I had an egg for Breakfast, refried Beans with a small amount of salsa and light sour cream for lunch and some chicken salad for dinner. All went down well - no issues with tightness or nausea. I'm glad but also a little nervous that I don't really feel restriction. I know I didn't eat much so maybe I just ate under my sleeve? Good luck to all of you!

hey all checking back in on the last day of the month. Down 14.5lbs yippee! But still having nausea and diarrhea issues. But I also have a rare liver disease so I guess it could be a combo thing. Just something I will have to manage even though Iam tired of it. But I am glad I had the surgery. Starting walking again this week and trying to track my food and get my Protein in. Trying not to be hard on myself and just take it one day at a time.;)

Checking back in. Had surgery Aug. 2nd. Had a little setback for about a week. Saw surgeon today and he said they put a suiture lower to left side of belly button and sometimes it gets a nerve in there aggitated. Took about a week but now doing great. As of today 19 lbs. About the 3rd week I had a 9 day stall. Uhhhh, thought it would never end. I have started getting slight cramps in my right leg at the bottom. I told doc I had started eating about 1/3 bananna for more potassium. Everyone looks like they are doing great. I am starting to tell in my clothes, so that is nice. Everyone keep us posted. This site has been great for knowing what to expect.

On August 10, I was 420.

On August 12, I was 409.

Today, I stand at 394.

I'll probably stay at 394-396 for a couple of days and then move down another several pounds. That seems to be my pattern. I'm feeling good, and I'm on mushy food for two days now.

Instead of a 3XLT shirt, I'm getting into some 2XLTs. Instead of size 50 pants, I wore size 46 jeans today. I'm so glad I had surgery.

ETA: I go back to work tomorrow, 3 weeks after surgery. I wanted to make it past my first appointment before getting back in there. The doctor saw no issues with my progress, so back I go.

Stall stall stall. Blah! I lost 20 lbs in 2-3 weeks and now...nothing. Oh well. I know it'll be over soon. On a good note, I can eat almost anything, just in super small quantities. HUbby took me to Panera bread and I got a black bean Soup. I ate 1/4 of it and had some of his salad with chicken. It felt nice to be able to go out and eat normally, at least normally enough that nobody would notice, though hubby laughed when I said I was full and most of my Soup was still in the cup.

I'm back in school full time and the schedule is making it tough to get all the Protein in. I may have to add 1 shake a day back to my diet.

My surgeon OK'd it for me to run and lift weights again as long as it was light enough that I could easily do 25 reps. The first time I ran was tough, but I got right back into it easily. I'm hoping being able to exercise again will help kick start out of this stall. Hope everyone is doing well. I honestly cannot believe how good I feel at 4 weeks post op. I have plenty of energy, though I do poop out by 9pm, but that's after going all day long with classes, homework, football practice and maintaining a family of 7, so I feel blessed that I am able to do it all.

I hate that 3 week stall. I had my surgery on Aug. 2nd. Third week I went into a 9 day stall. Thought it would never end. But on the 10th day I started dropping again. I can also eat almost anything I want. Just don't want but a few spoonfuls, so am doing great. Still hard to get Protein in just because I don't like the shakes and they fill me up so fast it takes so long to try to get them in. I try to eat a few Beans, or something with protein to make up for it. Glad everyone is doing great.

That happen to me. I gained 3lbs and then lost it plus 2. BUT, all of my cloths are still getting bigger and bigger. I feel a ton better too. I was really getting aggravated with the scale so I ignored it for the long weekend and was so excited this morning when it showed the loss!

Hello August Sleevers! Glad to see everyone doing so well. I have to admit - the first two weeks for me were hell. No its not so bad by I am still nauseous and I feel as if i'll pass out most of the time. That doesnt feel too good :( weight loss has been decent though, so that helps with how tired and sleepy I feel all day long. My BP is naturally low and I think its a lot lower now with the low calorie intake. I think the devil himself must have created protien shakes... I can't stand looking at them. I've decided to try the NEWWHEY Protein Shots. 42 grams for 3.8 oz, 0 fat, 2 Carbs, 0 sugar. If I can choke those down in a few drinks then it will be worth it to get the Protein down. I appreciate all the support I get on this site and I've become a walking encyclopedia for sleeve surgey :D

LOL...I know what you mean by the Protein Drinks. I have gone to the Protein Shots also. I pour about 1/2 of one of the shots in a small cup and sip on it, then I finish the rest of the shot a few hours later. I try to get the rest in by food. I had surgery on the 2nd of Aug. and down about 23 lbs. so doing pretty good. Had the normal 9 day stall around the 3rd week and few minor problems. I have enjoyed being able to lose the weight without being hungry, and so far have enjoyed my sleeve. I do not have the taste for food I had before surgery. We went to a couple of buffets lately and I would get a couple of spoonfuls of items I thought I would enjoy and be easy on my sleeve but nothing tasted wonderful like before, which is good I guess. My main staple food is fish. Seems my body wants fish for dinner everyday. And egg with cheese for breakfast. Working on getting exercise in as I did too much too soon and body had to remind me. Good Luck everyone and keep us posted.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
