Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Recommended Posts

I had it done in Israel, the operation was a success, and they did warn me at the time to eat small amounts and never push it, but did I listen????? only got myself to blame......so be warned all you fellow sleevers :smile1:

I still don't think they made your sleeve tight enough. The tissue of the sleeve, if done correctly, isn't very stretchy. I would throw up before I ate that much, it comes back up my throat with no room to go. Don't beat yourself up, I don't think you were given the same tool most of us were.

I have never been sick, the only thing I can't eat is Turkey I've tried it 3 times to see if its the culprit and I have to make myself sick after eating it. Apart from that, never had heartburn again, nor rejected any food

It's just hard. My bf eats ice cream every night. Now that he's here all the time, there are foods in the house that were never here before. I DON'T want to gain weight back, but it's really hard. I have to really watch everything I eat very carefully. It would be really easy to gain about 20 , I bet, if I didn't watch that scale every morning.

I am currently 6 weeks post op, and I am def struggling with gaining weight during my TOM. I also gained 1lb during Thanksgiving & feel terrible about it. That along with not getting enough Protein or fluids, I feel like I am self-sabotaging.

Not a good week for me...

I think it would be pretty hard to gain a real pound at six weeks out... you would have to drink/EAT 3000 extra calories to do that...probably Water weight from extra salt... it will come off, don't stress about it. The holidays are hard, just take it one day at a time and log what you eat and drink to stay conscious.

These are the stories I need to hear. Today is Saturday and last Saturday was my surgery,

I was 140k night before (checkin). This morning I am 133k and whts better I can see the difference.

I had the band before and it was miserable 3.5 yrs of torture. I am on a liquid diet yet and Doc told me ice cream was ok for now. If in the states I could get reduced fat and sugar free versions, but this is Thailand and they put hot peppers and huge amounts of sugar in everything.

Long story short I am very encouraged.

I have had a strange journey with my weight loss - lost really fast in the beginning when I was doing only 500 calories or so, if even that - then stalled big time when the caloric intake went up to 1200-1300 (per nutritionist) - can't seem to lose at that - I travel ALOT for work and when I travel I have gained up to 8 lbs from my low point but as soon as I come home it starts to come off again. I think with the travel there is Water weight gain from the flying as well. I still have 40-45lbs to lose to get to a reasonable goal and I think it is just going to take alot more exercise, which I have been very bad at.

I'm curious to know, what would you say are the main reasons you had a weight gain? I'd say 21 Lbs is rather significant gain.

I'm hopeful that keeping a good eye on the scale, my workouts and doing a good job watching what I'm eating for the most part will help keep the weight from creeping back up. I don't plan to be super rigid with my eating, but I'm hopeful that if I notice my scale going up more than a normal 5 Lbs bounce I will work toward getting it back off.

Thank you in advance for any insight you might have! I'm just trying to avoid this if I can.

I know right?? LOL :) I'm down to 2 weigh in per week. Fridays and Mondays to watch my weekend eating. I'm worried will that be enough now? I just don't want to be hog tied to my scale the rest of my life. I just want a normal accounting of it... but what's normal?

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
