Jessbowling...first off i am SO sorry for your predicament. Are you recovered from the stroke now? Secon, after a blow like that, why the ONLY way to go is "onward and upward". You are young and there are technologies and medical advances to help with your future. Assemble a support team, lean on them with all your might, and go for it! With your attitude, weight is a piffle problem. You got bigger fish to fry!

So I had my VSG on September 27, 2010 and lost 61 lbs out of the 100 that I needed to lose. Over a couple of years I gained back almost 30 lbs! I have tried everything to get back on track and most recently got involved with It Works (this is NOT a sales pitch, just my story) and am using a couple of their products and have lost 11 lbs in less than two weeks so I am excited about getting back on track. Really want to get the rest of this weight off. But I have to say, I have absolutely NO regrets and still say that the VSG is the best thing I had ever done! Under normal circumstances I would have gained back the entire 61 lbs and another 50 on top of that!

Pam

P.S. And clearly I have to figure out how to go back and edit my profile because my current weight is 210 not 189 (I wish). But I will get there and further :-)

It's not from eating unless you are seriously not following the program.

Most likely your weight gain is from swelling/fluids from the hospital.

I'm so excited I come across this because I was worried that it was only me. I literally will fluctuate between 1-2 pounds. I'll loose about 8-10 pounds then gain 2 pounds out of no where. Of course it comes right off but jeeeeeeeezzzz!!!

Hello. Its been quite awhile since I post. I had my surgery March 2015. I'm done 50 plus pounds. I am happy with that, however, I have been at a stall for several months. I am at 186, but I've been at this same weight with fluctuation of 1-3 pounds. I can't seem to get below 184. I have been eating sweets more than I should, but I don't eat a lot. I also took up running. I run at least 3-4 days a week - 4-6 miles on each day.

I am beginning to think I've reached my maximum weight loss. Any suggestions to getting back on track? I still want to lose at least 25 more pounds to get to my goal weight.

Frustrated with this stall.

I just got out of the hostipal and they said my Pancreas is off the charts. I feel really bad do you think this from the sleeve surgery. Also my face turns really red and eyes feel dry.

Thanks

@@Brian, these are not symptoms related to sleeve surgery that I have ever read about. Please get seen by a doctor.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
