Duke Hospital in Raleigh

I live over two hours away from the hospital where I will have my vertical sleeve gastrectomy surgery. I am planning to get a hotel room near the hospital the night before the surgery, and to keep that room for at least two nights so that my wife can sleep there the night after my surgery.

I am wondering if I should just stay near the hospital for the first week? Are there a lot of follow-up visits with the hospital during the first week after surgery?

Hey Brian!! My surgery will be in Raleigh but @ Rex. As for follow up appointments the first one they scheduled for me is two weeks after my procedure. Of course if I have issues or anything I will go in sooner. I l know all surgeons are different. Best of luck to you.
