I'm having my surgery on Tuesday, but I wondered how you found the two weeks of Clear liquids beforehand? Also, are you in much pain? I was under the impression that this operation removed the ghrelin (hunger hormone) and wonder if perhaps more fluids would help you?

I'm having mine on the 14th, and I've read another post about a sleever that was certain she was feeling hunger. Many suggested that she take an antacid, because acidity can feel like hunger. Others suggested taking in more fluids. Some talked about it being a "mind game" your brain plays with your stomach. You have to get the right frame of mind. I don't know if any of this helps, but thought I would share.

Hi chatty the two weeks before were definetly rough at times but one night I ate plain grilled chicken and partially boiled broccoli with a sugar free and calorie free dressing I dipped a little in and I ate once at the end few days before surgery . That at least allowed me to keep going plus I have a 7 month old and was always super busy during the day, Also I thought the Optifast was pretty good so that helped . I think my problem now is being on house arrest w no food and i did smoke the occassional cigg, before so now that i have NONE of that and noooo fod jeeze louise its hard, Im not a big tv person so im glad I found this website!!!! As for pain its mild now just getting up and down stings a little . And I thought that was the case about the hunger hormone but im not sure it could be in my head but im drinking lots of Water drinks and broth and Jello soooooo we shall see.

Make sure its really hunger. If liquids are not helping, try an antiacid. Some sleevers never get rid of the hungry feeling. Some have it come and go. But its too soon to move to the next stage. Egg drop Soup sans egg helped me in the beginning.

I had my surgery 5 days ago too, and I'm hungry as well! Protein Drinks, Jello, Water, water, water... I'm craving real food, hope this won't be too unbearable. One more week like this. I'm battling fever and just feeling lousy too. It does go away or is controlled by meds, I just hate taking them. I have to return to work on Tuesday, not looking forward to it. Hope you can hang in there, I'm right here with you, hungry but playing by the rules. We can do it!! Good luck.

Yeah my Surgeon wants all patients on stage 2 before they leave hospital( which is mushies) stage 3 will be after my 2 week post op. He likes to get the digestive tract moving. I guess: )

He also didnt do drains. I actually wanted a drain as I heard its good to get all that crap out. But no drain here.

When do you get your drain out? 3 week appt or sooner?

Im really hoping that hormone is out of my tummy : )

Do you know what bougie your Dr used? Mine used a 40 wich is the largest.

TAKE CARE

When you make your ticker, copy the URL under it. Go to your profile and click "edit my profile" on the upper right hand side. On the Left side of that page, click "my signature" and add the URL to the second box, then save. :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
