WELL I FINALLY HAD MY VERTICAL SLEEVE SURGERY ON JUNE 20, 2011, I STARTED THIS PROCESS IN FEB OF 2010, WEIGHING 365, I WENT THR0UGH 6 MONTHS OF MEETING WITH MY NUT, HAD A MENTAL EVAL, CHANGED MY EATING HABITS, LOST & GAINED WEIGHT. I WAS FINALLY APPROVED IN SEPT 2010, WITH KAISER THERE IS A LENGTHY PROCESS AND A LOT OF HOOPS TO JUMP THROUGH. BUT I MADE IT AND FINALLY GOT THE CALL IN MAY FOR MY JUNE SURGERY DATE. I CAME HOME ON THE 21ST, TRYING NOT TO DO TO MUCH AND FOLLOW ALL MY DOCTORS ORDERS. I THINK I HAVE DONE A LITTLE TO MUCH TODAY BECAUSE I AM IN A LOT OF PAIN, BUT I AM GOING TO REST. I AM TRYING TO GET IN MY Protein AND Water, BUT IT REALLY CAN BE HARD SOME DAYS.

SURGERY DAY WEIGHT WAS 341, AFTER SURGERY 3 DAYS POST OP 350, BECAUSE OF ALL THE IV THAT I HAD TO GET. I HAD MY SURGERY AT HOLY CROSS HOSPITAL IN SILVER SPRING MD, PREFORMED MY DR BRIAN CANTOR WHO IS WITH KAISER.

Congratulations on getting through the surgery! The weight will come back off. Just concentrate on getting your fluids in - the rest will take care of itself.

I had my surgery on the 21st so I am right there with you! I am afraid to weigh yet because I did receive so much Fluid and I am so swollen. Trying to convince myself to wait one week to get on the scale. I am constantly thirsty and the fluids are going down pretty nicely. I have no idea if I am feeling hunger or gas or what but lots going on in my abdomen!

Sounds like you are doing great! lets keep in touch since we are only a day apart!

Sounds like you're right on target!!! I'm just three weeks out on Monday and it does get easier. Feels like each phase has its challenges. But on this board I've learned that things get better and life gets back to normal... only better! :-) Congratulations!

I completed my surgery on June 06, 2011, with Dr. Cavazos in San Antonio, Texas. My post op weight revealed a 23lb weight loss in 1 1/2 weeks. More importantly I saw my endocronologist on the 23rd and he has reduced my insulin and changed me to oral meds.

I did this surgery to help control my diabetes. This life change is one of the hardest things I have ever done.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
