Well was going over the recipe section and found a Peanut Butter ball recipe:

1 cup peanut butter (microwave to melt)

1 cup oats

1 scoop Protein Powder

5 packets splenda

Stir together, form into balls and cool in refrigerator.

Made some of these but found the "oats" did not go down well even though they get soft in the refrig after a while. So I remade the balls with two scoops of Protein powder ( I used Jay Robb Unflavored 26 grams protein per scoop and no carbs) and no oats and these are great.

Thinking I should have used the chocolate flavor and added to the peanutbutter like Reeses.

Well at least the protein powder is going to some use as I am unable to stomach the shakes. And the peanut butter is a protein too! Just a thought for those like me having trouble getting any protein down right now. (I am 4 weeks out).

I'm going to try this! My mom used to make something called "Protein Balls" that were 1 cup Peanut Butter, 1 cup honey, 1 cup oats, 1 cup Protein Powder, 1/2 cup wheat germ, 1/2 cup sesame seeds. Then she would roll them into little balls and then in coconut. Yum! You can also substitute almond butter and make it healthier.

Peanut Butter is the one thing that gives me horrible heartburn that lingers for days. But I think I could actually tolerate the oats so there has to be a version I can work up with this idea. I too have mucho Protein mix I have to figure out a way to get rid of.

Just FYI - you can also make a flourless cookie using just Peanut Butter & sugar (or Splenda) -- if you don't want the oats. You bake it & everything. You'd think it would just melt, but it doesn't - tastes like a really dense Peanut Butter cookie.

1 C peanut butter

1 C white sugar (or Splenda)

1 egg

Combine everything, bake for about 8 minutes at 350. You can even do the fork identation thing, and it will hold. I've made them with Splenda and they come out pretty much the same either way. I've also made them with unflavored Protein powder - slightly more fluffy, and lighter color (my unflavored is a whitish powder) but that was the only difference I noticed.

This is a great idea. I'm having a really hard time with the shakes and getting my Protein in. I'm just about 3 1/2 weeks out. I actually was doing better early on and now I am just disgusted. Every day is a struggle. The only problem I see is that I would have to get down an entire cup of penut butter for one scoop of protein. Do you use a particular protein powder with a higher content of protein? The best I could find is nectar and it has 23 grams of protein per scoop. Sometimes I will put a scoop and a half into 8 oz of wanter so that I can get more protein in in a single "torture session" :-)

Oh yeah you all keep these Peanut Butter recipes coming! I don't know what the heck it is but I've grown some kind of bizarre obsession with it. I wonder how these would taste with the Super Chunky type. Ohhh Myyy Goodnesssss!!!!

Re: Rice Krispies... I think the rice might be the wrong kind of carb - I think RK is made with puffed "white" rice. Maybe some kind of Kashi type or multi grain Cereal might work. Nothing wrong with experimenting!!! :)

Re: the Oats being too rough... has anyone tried to actually cook them before adding them to the PBBalls? Just a thought that it might cush them up even more...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
