Curves for Exercise

Recommended Posts

Have you or do you now go to Curves for exercise? What was your experience? What is it? How much did it cost?

I'm really having a hard time finding the right time at home for my treadmill. Hubby works strange hours and it wakes him up when I'm on the treadmill.

I went to Curves for about a month but had to quit because an emergency arose in my family....got out of the habit after that. Curves cost me about 25 or 35 per month, they would perfer to take it automaticaly out of your account, and will give a discount if they can. At our Curves, there are sixteen stations in a circle. Everyother station is exercise equipment then next to the exercise station is a empty station where you walk in place or self exercise to keep your heart rate up. You don't stay at each station long, max less then one minute. You move in the circle and after hitting each station I think 3 times, you move to a cool down area to streach. It really only takes 45 minutes from start to finish. Hope this helps.

I've been a member of Curves for 2 years now, but I haven't been for a few months. Because I've had some health issues, then made excuses for myself.

I pay $29 a month, and it's automatically deducted from my checking account. I keep the membership even when I'm not using it now because I'm determined to get back to it.

I really noticed a big difference when I went. I felt so much better, and had actual muscle tone. I could walk longer and not get winded, or climb stairs.

The workout itself consists of 16 stations, every other one is a resistence machine and the other ones are recovery stations where you job in place. You do 30 seconds on each station. One thing I liked is that there weren't any weights to adjust, how fast you do the movement determines the resistence and thus the intensity of the workout.

I also like that it's just women, and it's very low key. All ages and sizes and styles of workout gear. It's very comfortable.

OK, I really need to get back there!

I went to curves for a while, but I didn't like it much. My husband and I have recently joined the YMCA they offer the same set up as Curves and a lot more, We are planning to do Water exercises, they also have dance lessons, a spin class(ride a bike to music with dim lights so you don't feel so exposed.

We are also allowed the use of a Personal trainer 4 times a year to help us plan for our goals.

Our Y membership is only 53 per month no long term commitment. which is only 26-27 per person.

The biggest hurdle is my self and getting me there, I hate to exercise because I hate to sweat!!! :faint: :faint:

the Y also has a lot more hours, a sauna and whirlpool.

I had 2 free passes for one that opened locally to me.

My experience is that its a great, supportive environment for women just getting their fitness back, its time efficient and non confronting and a good place for older women to exercise too.

For me though, I was already quite fit, its way too slow paced and easy for me. I prefer the "real gym" and much more high energy stuff.

I think its terrific, just not my speed.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
