Tijuana MX, Jerusalem Clinic. Dr. Almanza, VSG, $5000. I picked them just because I was most familiar with Tijuana than other MX cities. They contacted me first, the price was fair and I'm a cheapskate

My insurance does cover bariatric surgery but I've heard of others having a hell of a time getting approved and I wanted a VSG - NOT a bypass - which is what the surgeons around here want you to have. I was also feeling so crappy with a myriad of problems due to my weight I wanted something done NOW. I had $5000 from an inheritance so I used it for this.

I had Dr. Jaime Ponce DeLeon @INT Hospital in Tj, Mx. I wiggled the price down to $4500 so including airfaire and expenses I would not pay more than $5k. He was above excellent and he even came to check on me at the hotel. He also made my sleeve extra small per my request. I could not be happier and had a lot of fun with my coordinator.

Dr Kelly in Mexico. Excellent medical care and bedside manner. No pain, no nausea, no problem getting liquids in. A little gas the night I was sleeved, but other than that I didn't feel any discomfort, pain was managed very well. Dr Kelly came to the hotel, not just to check on me medically but sat down and had a long conversation with me. Got a hug goodbye from him and Trish. They truly care. I was expecting a good experience, but had an amazing experience!! Hotel was very nice. Have had NO problems or complications. As of 2 wks+2days I've lost 25 lbs!! My blood glucose is normal. All for $5500+ flight!!!!!

I haven't been sleeved yet, but I'm going to Dr. Ortiz at OCC in TJ. I went and toured the clinic and got to meet Dr. Ortiz and the staff and I really enjoyed everyone. Two of the nurses on his staff have been sleeved and I got to speak with them. One was sleeved quite a while ago and the other was only sleeved 2 weeks ago!

Dr. Mario Almanza, TJ, Mexico Jerusalem Clinic. Wonderful experience. Went out a day early to enjoy San Diego first. No problems. No pain. No leaks. Leave extra early to get back into the states to make your flight on time, the boarder crossing line is very long and time consuming, 3-4 hours at least. biggrin.gif maybe cosmetic next wink.gif

Going to dr Almanza in tj Mexico. For $4,500. Then they called me and told me they are having a special discount this month and gave me a $250 credit. So nice of them, I would have NEVER known about the special going on. They didn't have to tell me but they did. I'm having the sleeve on Saturday. Their price is really low because they do not have the overhead like some of the really large hospital. He also has done hundreds of surgery. I really feel he is one of the best.

Also having surgery os sat.

I actually live in Tijuana, i am mexican. My cardiologist cleared me for surgery and did not recommend any of the clinics like INT. She said they are very good if nothing happens, BUT if an emergency happens those clinics will not have the staf or equipment needed, i decided to have mine at a large hospital here in tij. Much more expensive but... I have enough things to worry about if the surgey goes well, dont want to worry about if it doesnt !!

I went to ponce de leon, Dec. 10, 2010..down 92 lbs. No problems, paid $4500. Paid my own airfare. Hospital Jerusalem is a large clinic setting, small rooms, but they take good care of you. You move to the Condo when you feel well enough and it is nice. Great Price, and I didn't have a lot to spend. No regrets here. I don't know what INT is...you may want to clarify exactly where your surgery will take place with your coordinator. Last year when I was there, he was performing surgery in the same clinic with Almanza. I met Almanza too. I was petrified too, but here I am a year out (almost) and A-OK.

I went to Dr. Aceves on Nov. 29, 2011 in Mexicali. Everything was wonderful! Can't say enough good about him, Dr. Campos and their team!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
