Since Being Sleevd, I have Acne

Recommended Posts

I'm 25 yrs old. Almost two weeks out from surgery. I had acne when I was a teen, but nothing horrible, just here and there. Then it subsided, no acne for years. Now that I've had surgery, I've realized my face breaking out angry.gif Again, it's not horrible, but I'm not a fan.

Has this happened to anyone else, could it be hormonal?

If this keeps up for the next couple months, I will be seeing my dermatologist (if OTC products do not work). Thanks

I don't know for sure, but it would make sense that it is from hormones. Fat stores estrogen, when we lose fat that estrogen is released. I have read other posts where people are very moody or have crazy periods, and it all seems to be related. I bet it will clear up as your body levels out.

Yes, I think it makes a lot of sense that it's hormonal. There are other issues that come with "hormones dumping into your system" side of weight loss, so it makes sense that this would also happen. Definitely a good idea to see a dermatologist! I hope they have a good solution for you!

I'm having the same issue! My skin is breaking out bad! I had my first period since surgery and it was the most painful it's ever been in my life. Midol nor pamprin worked. I think I am going to see a dermatologist as well. Let me know how that works out for you :)

I am having the SAME issue. I'm a month out from surgery- and by the time my period came around I literally had like 8 pimples on my face- and I usually don't break out at all. It's gotta be the hormones. I'm going to go on some form of birth control when I see my lady dr next week- so I'm hoping that helps. Have you considered that?

Nicole, I didn't even think about birth control. I had to be off of it 6 weeks prior to surgery. But I do need to get back on it. I am gonna wait about two months though to schedule an appt

; gotta find a new gyno

How soon can we go back on birth control? I am not going back on the pill, would like implanon

Hi, I had the same problem for around the first two months post-surgery. I had bad breakouts around TTOM.

One thing that helped me is taking zinc supplements. Zinc is good for the skin. I'm happy to say my skin is beautifully clear now so in my experience at least it wasn't something permanent.

Good luck.

I had some terrible breakouts right after surgery as well.. It took a few weeks but after everthing leveled out but now my skin is ALMOST flawless... Give it a few weeks.. I think it's just hormones and your body adjusting to change..

You're also eating totally different foods now than you were before. More healthy fats and Proteins and lots of Water, which will flush out the system. It will even out but it will take a bit of time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
