I have been on and off here for a bit now, I have crossed the 9 month point and am approaching my one year mark....

For me it's a wild ride especially at the scales I had another great week and lost 10 lbs but the two week previous I gained 5 lbs total and I looked at my weigh in records as I attend weekly meetings with weigh ins on Saturday and since the beginning of December (5 months) I have lost 33 lbs, that's the good news.

Out of those months i've weighed in 19 times (8 times I gained, 1 was exactly the same, and 10 times I lost)

The reason I decided to post this topic is because if you pay attention to any one weigh in, or set of weigh ins you may get discouraged. Stalls can be disheartening and so can gains. You must stick with it and keep working to do what you're supposed too!!!

The weight will come off but the body acts in funny ways I gain 2, gain 3, and lose 10, I gained 3 lbs over 7 weeks then lost 8, etc etc etc

Now I know some of this is my own doing as i'm not always 100% on point with my nutrition but I also know that some is my body just trying to slow down the weightloss.

My point is don't get caught up on the slow losses, the stalls, and the short term gains, if you do what you're supposed to do often enough it will come off.

I have now lost 124 lbs since the surgery and 324 lbs overall, of course my body and my mind go on weightloss vacation occasionally and I may lose some battles but ultimately I will win the war.

Good luck!

your welcome, just saying while this is the greatest thing i've ever done for myself that you must set realistic expectations, and there may be times your not doing as well as you'd like but if you focus on trying to do the best in the long run and doing what's right you'll eventually get to where you want to be!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
