Finally found some protein that I can consume without nausea!

I'm 15 days post op. I'm SO HUNGRY! Well, not really- more like I smell food, and I want to eat it. I cooked for my boyfriend yesterday and it was the first time since before surgery, and I almost lost that battle! But anywho! I had the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup flavored protein- let me just say I hurled all over the counter- that was by far the nastiest thing I've ever tasted. Next, are the slim fast protein- too too sweet, I hate to have sweet drinks. Then I went and bought the Isopure water- this is finally something I can drink. I hate the after taste, but I can drink it. I also forgot that I could have skim milk or 1% milk- and I've been passing it up every day until this morning! Milk does the body good, and there's nothing like a cold glass of milk! The whey Protein unflavored is gross as well. I can wait to eat, I have my 2 week follow up appointment on Thursday and which is about 4 or 5 days off when I can eat and I'm hoping against all hope that Dr. Nick just lets me eat cause I am not enjoying the protein thing- before surgery, no problem, after surgery it- yuck!

I have 2 questions for you guys: What are some good ways of getting adequate amounts of protein via liquids (excluding Protein shakes cause I'm going there lol)? and what were some foods that you guys ate during the soft diet phase?

Ha!! I never found any Protein product that I could tolerate. I started out eating cottage cheese, very soft cooked scrambled or poached egg, soft deli turkey with cream cheese rolled in it, soft cooked chicken mixed with a little ricotta cheese. It all gets a bit old after a week or so, but stick with it. The soft foods were MUCH easier for me than the liquid. I am now at a point where I can eat anything (theoretically) but I still stick with a lot of softer items because they have the most protein. I eat about 6 times a day to get in an much protein as possible and I don't do any Liquid Protein - I could never get it down.

Good luck!

I am day 7 of the liquid diet...the best of tried so far is PURE protein in the can...today I tried cookies and cream flavor..they are good. Found at tranders joes and the vitamin shoppe.

Good Luck!

I totally had the same problems with protein as you and Rev Me Up! Couldn't even choke it down, to me they are all disgustingly gross!!! Once I started my mushies phase I too ate the soft meats and cheeses, scrambled eggs and soups that had more protein than others. You will get it in before you know it!;)
