Success at the Buffet Line

Recommended Posts

So... before i had my surgery, my husband and i would frequent this little asian buffet for lunch at least once per week (we work together). I explained to the owner, the week before surgery, that he would sadly not see me for a while .... Well today I went back and this is what happened.

First, I asked the Manager/Owner if he would sell me a smaller priced buffet and he asked me if I had my little card the surgeons gives you..

I proudly said "Yes I Do"...:D

I picked up my buffet plate and proceeded to the food.... I ate 2 steamed dumpling, 6 steamed very small shrimp, one thin cut peice of beef about the size of 1/2 a stick of gum, and 4 or 5 sips of Soup broth. That was it..... could not handle any more. My big surprise, when I was only charged $4.15 for my buffet and my waitress gave me my tea (which comes with the buffet) to go.

THANK YOU LITTLE CARD..... SUCCESS!

I'm excited.... I can handle to buffet with ease and control. I feel so happy :P

That is awesome!!

What little card are you talking about? I have not had surgery yet, so I assume it is something I will be given as well!

Not everyone gets the card.

I read a lot of places aren't doing them.

But, you can tell restaurant people and see if they will help with pricing. Or, you could just order a smaller order.

Anyway!

Congratulations on your success.

I've lost 30 lbs (my bmi is now 30.8) I started feeling normal as soon as I was able to drink Protein...

I can now eat whatever I want as long as the portion size is small and i don't eat to much.

I get a to go box for buffets and pay by the pound, it's cheaper and I have leftovers, DOUBLE SCORE ! ! ! I can't bring myself to use a card, I know some have zero issue with it, and I'm glad it works for some people. Just for me, they didn't charge me triple when I ate enough for 3 people, so I'm not going to ask them to accommodate me because I chose to have my anatomy altered so I'd put the fork down. Plus, I'm not one to share my medical history with complete strangers much less that I had bariatric surgery so I wouldn't be fat anymore.

YAY for the little card. Used mine for the first time tonight as well so I could order off the kids menu at IHop. The portion was still HUGE. I ate maybe 1/8th of the kids omelet and none of the fruit lol

I never asked for the card, I just don't think I need to share my life with strangers for a discount. I choose wisely and spread a meal out over 3 meals or I share a meal, depending whom I am with.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
