A good couple of weeks

Recommended Posts

Well I just looked back and its 2 1/2 weeks since I hit onederland, and I really couldn't imagine ANYTHING feeling so good as that did, but I guess it has been a good couple of weeks all in all, and it does!!

First I hit onderland, :cheer2: :cheer2: then my next aim was to be overweight, and no longer obese, which I hit a week ago :clap2::clap2: , and today I got back into the 13 stone bracket AND hit the 40lb loss marker

I'm 2lb off 3 stone loss, and 6lb away form being the same weight as my wedding day (After not seeing that for 8 years of self abuse, and 2 pregancnies!).

So here is my next set of promises to myself;

I am going to go back to basics for a week, back to liquid only and 90g Protein without fail, I am going to lose that 6lb within the next 8 days to hit my easter goal!

I am going to weigh LESS than I did on my wedding day by the time I go on holiday in 2 weeks, and I will not be afraid to wear shorts in public while I'm away.

I have a dress which is about 1/2 inch too small around my bust, it will fit, and I WILL wear it to my friend's wedding in 4 weeks from now.

And when I do? I'll be a size smaller than I have ever been in my adult life, and I will have lost 4 1/2 dress sizes. I will dance at the reception, I will not hide from their photographer, and I may (possibly) even let my own husband carry me over the threshold as I was too scared of hurting him on our own honeymoon night as I felt so fat!

I LOVE MY SLEEVE!!!:success1:

Thank you so much for your support everyone.

I'm not usually boastful, or particularly confident in such matters, so whilst I was having a good time I thought it would be good to post it, so when I struggle I can look back and remind myself why I am on this crazy ride.

I' going on the theory that for us all to be on this site, and to be at our various stages of surgery and weight loss, we must have had at least one defining moment of "I'm worth it!", its why we are changing our lives so drastically, so lets be nice to ourselves along the way, Celebrate the changes (both big and little) as they happen, and make the most of it.

We only pass this way once, so lets have a blast!

Cx

p.s. Coops - when I say I just crept back into the 13s, I do mean just (13.12 today), so I'm certain your stall will break, and you'll be letting me know what the 12s are like long before I see them for myself! ;)

Hey C...

I got into the 12s today... 12 13lb...lol... I posted a lil thread as means of celebration... I am still loving your positive attitude and adopting some of it for myself. I am hoping this is the start of a slow but steady weight loss again,... x

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
