Noticing Patterns in Your Body With the Band...

Recommended Posts

I was curious what kinds of patterns people are seeing with their bodies due to the band. I was trying to explain to a friend why I've not been eating solid foods lately: my fills are usually scheduled right at the beginning of when I ovulate, and during this time, my band gets super tight beyond the normal swelling from the fill. One day of liquids and one day of mushies doesn't seem to cut it...I usually have to go the liquid/ice cream/broth route for about a week before I feel normal again, lest I have terrible PBing.

Also, I've noticed that the weeks I experience the greatest weight loss (from 3-5 lbs) is the week of my period. Something about my metabolism just skyrockets during that time.

What about others...notice anything about you bodies since you'd been banded?

I will lose a few pounds as my period is ending, then nothing until my next period. Its like my body is compacting during that time then I lose some weight as my period ends. Dunno weird. However Im on my last 45 pounds and Ive been on a platue for a while now. As long as Im not gaining Im okay with it.

Nana~

I will start holding steady about a week before my period, and generally 2 -4 days after -- as my body retains Water, and then releases it. Weightloss (if it's going to happen that week) will usually resume right around a week after my period. I've only lost during once.

I stop losing a week before my period, and then suddenly drop on day 1.

I dont notice any band patterns per se - I may be ever so slightly tighter at night but I suspect its because I eat hard Protein at night, whereas I rarely would eat a piece of chicken or meat in the daytime. My band seems to be very considerate in that when I go out its always wide open - hmm, maybe two glasses of wine before every meal would be a good idea?

But lately, I dont lose for weeks, then suddenly off comes a kilo, then no loss again for weeks.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
