Where are the 50s ???

Recommended Posts

Where are the 50's??? -- all I see is a topic about wrinkles! How has the surgery changed your life?

Okay, Luanne - here you go - Can cross my legs and love it! Can walk two or miles a day without having a heart attack! Can fit into size 8 clothes and love it! Can look myself in the mirror now (can't say I love it 'cause I STILL see the wrinkles! lol) without flinching! Can do anything I please without stopping to catch my breath every few seconds! Need I go on?? (smile)

Also, I am almost 10 months out and can eat a small amount of most anything. Still can't do a lot of very dense Protein like steak or chicken breast unless very, very tender and easily digested. I am trying now to go back to low carb as much as possible because I went through a month or so of beginning to eat "junk" in small amounts and don't want to re-train my thought processes back to bad eating habits. Reached goal of 150 in late February with weight loss of 101 total now. Will probably lose another 10 pounds or so if I can manage it.

Enough said? LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE my sleeve.

With your attitude & conviction, it willbe sooner than later! I went thru all that crap too and decided the $ would be well-spent going to Mexico.

Really truly just starting out on the sleeve journey. Decades, however, doin' the "such a pretty face" fat chick mosey....

HW 275

CW 243

BMI 41

Going for a hat trick in co-morbidities -- hypertension, arthritis, sleep apnea

Got denied for LapBand in 2006, irked the crap outta me. (All that crap still didn't make me lose much though...) So, since 07 been working on melting a few ounces while I dealt with hip replacement and spinal reconstruction. Decided maybe that denial was a blessing in disguise.

I WILL be one slinky sleevette or there will be some serious butt kickin' and name takin' -- this IS going to happen!!!

So for now, I'm working on proving to the insurance fairies that I do believe, I do believe, I do believe, have clicked my heels together 50 times so now I'm worthy of living, um I mean fully cognizant of the risks of going after this or dying early if I don't.

The hardest part? Having someone who knows absolutely nothing about me, emotionally, physically or personally decide that I haven't worked hard enough, suffered enough or can't seem to put down my fork long enough to get my soggyjunk outta the trunk or quake my booty off before I can have something done to MY body, for MY benefit and of MY own volition (that I actually have paid for through years of higher premiums and will continue to pay for)! But then again, I may be just a bit "sensitive" about "managed healthcare".....

Luanne:

May I ask how much the adventure in Mexico cost, where you went and the Doctor who did your surgery?

Dr. Aceves in Mexicalli, $8500. He did several friends LBs so google & research him; also from what I've read, he has done many on this VST, put him in this search engine also. The experience was great and I was not even nervous a minute.

I think I'm going slow.... I have no idea.. I haven't lost any in almost 2 weeks.. I have no lost inches I'm still wearing the same clothes and it's been 32 days.. but I'm not discouraged I know it will happen :) I'm in the mushy stages but can only keep down deviled eggs, yogurt, refried Beans and Applesauce... My Dr just told me to raise my calories to 800-900 now i'm trying to figure out how the hell do you do that AND still get in your Protein AND your Water... My GOSH I am STUFFED... I feel so tired it's like all I do is eat.. I want to go back to the eatting 3 Protein a day and thats it.. LOL

Way to go on the weight loss.. Y'all are doing fabulous :) I can't wait to wear the "smaller" clothes that have been hanging in my closet but alas.. I can't yet :( but i WILL :)

Sleeved on 4/26 came home from hospital and found I had gained 6 pounds! Drag and a half for sure! Down 5 pounds since 4/28. I really thought this would go faster  . But, on the plus side, no nausea, heaves, pain is under control and the swelling must have gone down really quickly because I have no problems getting in the Proteins or Water.< /p>

More than half way to goal! 44 lbs since 1/13/11. Stuck the last six days, hoping the scale starts down again soon. Hitting the gym tomorrow for some weightlifting.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
