Congratulations to all of you for your weight loss.....and.....good luck to you that are scheduled for sleeve surgery... It is a fantastic tool to getting healthy again.

I am 59..... 5'3" and started at 328 (pre-surgery) and 294 on day of surgery (May 2) & today the scale said 234... ((94 total & 60 since surgery)) I feel so good.

If some of you don't know about my story, i started out in a wheelchair (back-knees-hip-hands arthritis) my weight did not allow me the ability to walk, my body would just collapse & buckle. I would end up falling after about 10-15 steps.... WELL: I no longer use my wheelchair around the house at all. I use a walker when we go shopping because there are times that my back still gives out and when i have to sit down, its like right now-no time to look for a chair. So that works best....I don't even think about the chair anymore and i had been using it for over 5 years.

Sorry to go on and on, but i just want you all to know the surgery works. Yes there are bad days, when foods don't sit well at all. I had diarrhea for a long time and NUT said to add a banana every day.. OMG - There are SO MANY carbs in a banana!!! but if it works, i will continue. (started Wednesday)

Rambling again... sorry :)

you all have a fantastic weekend!

Carbs are the enemy. Don't try to figure a way to slip them back into your daily routine. At least not in the first 9 months.

I'm 4 months out. Lost 70 lbs the first 3 months and 10 lbs more this month. 10 lbs more and I reach my goal. I'm not perfect...

while I keep the carbs at bay I have started drinking red wine again. A glass a day but it does slow down the weight loss.

I may have to stop drinking wine while this next 10 lbs comes off and go back to Protein Drinks, yogurt and Water. Boring but it works and works fast.

Wow, thanks but all you have had is protein drinks, yogurt, and water in the last 9 months? Are you unable to eat anything else or is that all you wanted to eat? just wondering..

DebInAZ: I can eat almost anything now and I do sometimes. But I really stay away from Pasta, pizza, bread and the like. Once you start with carbs not only do you stop losing weight, the craving for them kicks in again. I'm at the end of this race and the weight loss is slow. Returning to the basics will get me there.

Hahaha, Brenda... I so agree about the hot flashes. I am 55 and my family has been wishing menopause on me for years so they won't have to suffer from me being cold all the time and sweating them out of the house and car. I am barely beginning menopause and yep... The hot flashes just don't last long enough and then I am stone old again! Not even long enough to shed my hugeass sweatshirt. Course, if being cold all the time was my worst complaint in life than I'm living pretty good.

tjmom...I am also amazed to hear your story, and how well you are doing, able to get around without the wheelchair again, and amazingly able to regain your sense of being able to take control of your destiny, your life. This surgery has helped so many of us that were feeling out of control for so long.

Good luck, you are doing fantastic!!

Clancy - thanks for posting! I stay away from most heavy carbs, but I did the same thing - started drinking white wine and you are right, it does slow down the weight loss, so I've stopped until I get to goal.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
