Negotiating out of pocket costs?

(just posted this earlier in the wrong forum so sorry for duplicates)

I've just completed my six months of diet & exercise w my pcp & my surgeons office is submitting for insurance approval. Since I first met w his office I was originally planning for lap band & had a run down of my exact out of pocket cost which was around $2500. Since I deceided on the sleeve I was initially told it would be an additional $7300 out of pocket! I have great west heathcare which is a division of cigna. I'm meeting w my surgeons office Wednesday & was told he may choose to lower my costs. What's reasonable? Ive been planning on the $2500 - don't have that larger amount lying around but I can manage to pay a reasonable amount more. Anyone else able to get costs down? Surgery is tentatively scheduled for march 11.

WOW! that would be more than I am paying for my surgery and I am self-pay...insurance doesn't cover the sleeve for me.

I hope they do come down on the price for you.

If all else fails, come join a bunch of us who have gone/ are going to Mexico for surgery. Like I have said before, I would go to Dr Aceves even if I had insurance, just because of his vast experience and history of no complications.

Good luck to you!
