Heyyyyyy! Just found this little corner. My surgery date was 6/12/12 with Dr. Carlin at Henry Ford Hospital, main campus in Detroit. I have nothing but good things to say about my surgeon, but my nursing staff after surgery....unbelievably awesome!

Hey everyone! Im new to this site and live in michigan...saint johns...small town 30 mins. North of lansing. I haven't had my surgery yet its going to be on september 24th. Also just wanted to let everyone know there is a walk for obesity at potters park zoo in lansing on september 22nd if anyone wants more details on it if ur interested in walking in it. You can do 1,2, or 3 mile walk and its thru the zoo...u can register online but im not sure what the cut off date is online or pay ten dollars more to register tht day. Its 25 or 35. But what it does is helps raise money for people like all of us that need these kinds of surgeries done but cannot afford it. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Hey everyone! I wanted to give everyone the information on the Walk From Obesity in Lansing MI. I know some people were waiting on the details.

Registration starts at 9 am

Date: September 22nd 2012

Walk begins at: 10 am

Location: Potters Park Zoo in Lansing MI

On Site registration fee: $35

Online Registration fee: $25

Site: www.walkfromobesity.donordrive.com/event/lansing2012

This walk will accommodate 1, 2, and 3 mile courses. It is through the Zoo which is nice you can look at the animals while your walking or running. The awesome thing about this walk is they do it to raise money for people who need these types of surgeries done that cannot afford it and have no insurance. Its amazing...these people are getting the second chance they never thought they would have. Spread the word to all of your friends and I hope to see you there!

Hey guys! I am not sleeved, but talking to Grand Health Partners about it. I need 3 months of weight loss program per my insurance so I wouldn't get surgery until December. Everyone have good experiences with GHP? Think I can start going to the groups even though I haven't done surgery?

Hey! Welcome! Yes definitely start going to groups now. I started this whole thing back in april and am not having surgery till next month and I go to our local support group at my drs office for the surgery every month. If I hadn't gone to the support groups I don't think I would feel as comfortable about my decision as I do. Good luck with everything!

Hi all. Sorry I am gonna miss that walk. I bet it would be fun! I am 3 months out this week and am down 57 lbs total now. You will not regret being a sleever! Its the best thing I have ever done for myself. Good luck to all of you who are still in the process.

Hi Everyone, I'm in the Howell area. Had my sleeve done on June 27th, 2012 at St. Johns Providence in Southfield. Love my surgeon, Dr. Kole. I'm doing great. Have some stomach disconfort sometimes. I'm down alittle over 60 lbs in just over 2 months. It's great to talk with other sleevers. Everyone sounds like they're doing great!!!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
