It definitely gets better. The first week is the worst. The second is better but still tough. My Dr said to be sure to walk every hour for five minutes as it helps with healing.

It will.
Hang in there, take your meds as prescribed, rest as much as you can and just focus on healing.
The 1st week was the hardest for me also...I battled severe nausea and thought it would never end.
Do you have someone you can call or text for advice who has been through this?
If not feel free to call or text me

I'm in Tyler I have a question surgery is scheduled for April 21st, I'm in nursing school with 2 weeks left after scheduled surgery, should I wait until after the semester ends? Just not sure how much pain I'll be in, and if I'll be able to go to class

@lorenpuig You should wait until after you finish school to have the surgery. It is a major surgery. You might be in quite a bit of pain for several days after the surgery (I was and had to take pain meds). Some people don't have much pain, but I think most people take off work a week or two or three if possible. I just can't see returning to class even a week after surgery. That's my opinion.

Thank you, I would have to actually return that Monday after having surgery Friday... where did you have surgery? And my doc said I just have to fast 8 hours prior to surgery that doesn't seem right

@lorenpuig Yes, I don't think just a weekend will give you enough time to feel better before you have to head back to school.

I am in Bryan/College Station and had my surgery in Bryan back in November.

Different doctors will tell you different things. I did a 2 week pre-op diet where I was allowed to have small, low carb and non-starchy veggies along with chicken or fish for Protein and Protein Shakes. Then the day before surgery, I was on an all clear liquid diet and couldn't have anything to eat or drink after midnight, the night before surgery. My surgery was at 11:00 the next morning. You will read that some people have to do a 2 week all liquid pre-op diet. Every doctor is different.

Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App

I'm from Copperas Cove, TX. I'm having my RNY at Baylor, Scott, White in Temple. My surgeon is Dr. Rodriguez. My chart is now at my insurance for approval.
How did your surgery go? And who was your surgeon?
Very anxious over here in Cove!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
