I am 10 days post op and still not feeling hot. I will add that my aunt flo came to visit 2 days ago. The problem is I thought I would be up and about by now. Still real sore. My port area and the band incision still hurt. They look great and there is no infection, but It hurts when I cough, sneeze and get off my bed or out of a sitting position. It feels like real sharp pains. I am off pain meds as well. I usually have no problem with pain. The pain goes to my back as well. The gas isn't so bad. ok so here is my question, how long did it take for you guys to not be in pain or uncomfortable. I just want to sit up, sleep on my side, or laugh. All this said I love my band and wouldn't change a thing. please give me some of your experinces so I get an idea. thanks all. I hope to hear from some of you.

I hear you and know exactly where you are coming from. Based on many of the postings I had read prior to being banded, I had thought the recovery process would be quick and easy. And, for some, it was. Not for me. Like you, it took me awhile to start feeling well again. The first week I was miserable. By the end of the second week I started feeling more normal again. But, it took a good 3 plus weeks before I finally stopped constantly being aware of my port and having that pulling sensation on it.

People heal at different rates. I went back to work after 9 days but was still sore and really didn't feel human for a few weeks. Take Tylenol for the pain and keep moving and stay hydrated. You'll feel better soon.

It took me quite awhile to feel like myself once again. I took ten days off from work as a Direct Support Professional (similiar to a nurse aid). I was still tender and sore even after returning to work. I slept in my hubby's recliner for almost a month, because I couldn't stand to lay flat. I also used a heating pad for the pain and walked around to get the gas out. Best of luck to you.

thanks susan, exactly how I would describe it. It feels like I have stitches in the inside (which I do) and they are pulling and even ripping. In case anyone pre banded reads this please don't let this make you to nervous. It is bearable pain and I still love my band.

I am 10 days post-op as well....all my incisions are tender to the touch, however....my largest incision and port area hurt as well....but only when I lean on it the wrong way in bed or poke it too much.

I'm not sure I can feel the port or scar tissue though.

I was so concerned about the "ripping" feeling that I went to the ER (that and I was dehydrated). They x rayed me and assurred me that everything was in the correct place and that I was feeling normal post op pain. i wasn't prepared for the level of pain that I did feel. I am 2 1/2 weeks out and I still am tender around and inside port area. i am functioning at fairly normal level though feel quite fatigued. i just have been able to sleep on port side of side in last few nights. i still get the pulling sensation a little but bearable. i have placed pillows around and underneath port to give support. i thought i'd go crazy till i was able to get on my side again. it's going to get better.

My port side is still hurting too. Tried to clean the bath tub tonight and ended up stopping half way thru to get some Tylenol.

Guess it is normal for some of us "odd balls". But at least I get out of cleaning the bath tub for a while. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
