My surgery date is Jan 6th with Dr Aceves in Mexicali, MX. I'm flying in to San Diego on Jan 5th from New Hampshire. Anyone else going to Dr Aceves around that time that would be interested in staying in touch. I'm going alone.

I too am wondering how long people are taking off of work. I do an administrative job, so not strenuous or anything.

How long are you taking off from work?

Hi Priscilla, I am having surgery on the 6th too! I am also going alone. We can support each other. There is another lady on this site that will be there on the 5th.

How are you feeling about the whole thing? We only have two weeks to go.

My date is jan 10th Dr hans Schmidt at Hackensack Hospital, in NJ. Party Like an animal, because the party days are over. It was a struggle to get the insurance to pay, but mostly because of an error by my former employer in coverage description. Atena said that i did noy have out of network coverage. Got appproval letter yesterday. Pre op appointment at PAT's today. Good Luck all and Merry Christmas and a Very HAPPY and "loosing" New Year

Yes I have my date, it is 27 January. I think I am ready, as it gets closer I may get a bit more nervous, but it took me a couple of months to decide if I really wanted to do this. Once I decided, then I have been at peace with that and have only looked foward to it, but at the sametime enjoying some treats now, as I know that I won't be able to have them after.

Who are you having your surgery with?

Priscilla

I am scheduled for Jan 6th.... Happy New Year to us! I have been reducing my carbs, diet soda and increasing my Protein and H2O to prepare... will start my pre-op liquids on Jan 1st. Will try to significantly increase my Proteins over Christmas holidays - which will be a challenge with all of the holiday goodies that usually hit our office and parties at that time. But I know I have to change my entire life not just the size of my stomach. laugh.gif

I am going to Mexico... how about you? Dr Ramos-Kelly is my surgeon. I am counting the days... let's see I board the plane 7 weeks from tomorrow - and in 50 days I will be sleeved! I am ready for a change in my life.

Kim

I am scheduled for Jan 6th as well....I am going through all the emotions(excited, nervous, scared, grateful, anxious.......) I went to my pre-op appointment today and the nurse put me at ease. I start my pre op diet tomorrow..I am a little excited about it. I am going to try and remained focus through this process because it is so easy to get off of the track due to my location. I live in South Louisiana and it's the holidays. Needless to say, Christmas is one day, New Year's is one day....getting sleeved and staying healthy is for a lifetime. So I guess the good outweighs the partying and fun.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
