Anyone Have Big Stall and At What Point? 3months out

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

We are just a bit over 3months out and I have noticed that I have hit a major stall for like 2 weeks. The weight has been going up / down 1 lbs for that time so not really making any progress and it is getting frustrating. I can't really complain as I have lost 83lbs so far but still have more to go! I have went back to looking at what I have been eating, and it has not really changed from what I had been eating prior to. Still keeping the same activity level. Just not sure if the body is taking a breather after losing so much so fast and will get back to burning soon or what.

So just checking to see if anyone else had a major stall and if you did what time line out from surgery are we talking about.

Thanks!

Hi, I am three months too and just ended a stall. My weight seems to do a Texas two step. I'll drop 2-3 pounds and then "gain" it back then will bounce up and down 1 pound and then after a week or so will drop that 2-3 pounds and not gain it back. It can be frustrating but I am pretty sure it is normal.

I think it is very normal (but still extremely frustrating!) I had a 10 day stall when I was only one week out from surgery, talk about frustrating!

Maybe some of the vets will chime in here, but I have heard about shaking things up a bit with your diet and exercise routine, just to bump your body out of the stay-same mode that it gets into. I think I have even heard of adding a few more calories for a couple of days then reducing again. Just a thought. I feel for you, stalls play games with our heads!

I haven't lost a pound since Oct 25. I did lose 30lbs first month so my doctor said its normal for a stall. I am losing inches but the scale not moving is very frustrating!! I am so ready to see the scale move again!!

I lost steadily until the end of 3 months..then I stalled for like 6 weeks..I am a little over 5 months out and have only lost 5 lbs since Sept. 7 but when people havent seen me for a couple of weeks they ask how much more I've lost..I keep getting told I'm looking thinner which is nice and yet frustrating since I cant see it on the scale. I am trying hard to get back to basics and logging. Hoping for a big loss this week.

I would bet you're retaining Water, but losing inches. As muscle mass builds, those muscles need water to repair and build. That's why the scale can up and down. Anytime someone has a stall, my recommendation comes from other vets that I talked to before I had surgery. They all say the same thing, shake things up, increase calories 100-200 calories a day for 5 days then drop back down, or increase Protein and water intake. Sometimes our bodies just need time to catch up. You've done so amazing thus far, hang in there, the scale will move again ! ! !

At 6 months out, I've hit my first major stall; this one has lasted about 4 weeks now. I'm just doing what I advise everyone to do: keep doing what you're supposed to be doing anyway, and don't pay too much attention to the scale.< /p>

I am having mini-stalls, it seems. Every 2 weeks I'll maintain weight and then the next I'll lose 3-4 lbs, then the same thing. I haven't changed anything...It's just frustrating!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
