Sfoytraveler I also was sleeved by the always late Dr. Cirangle on 11/29. I also live in east bay . I gave nothing but great things to say about the entire experience including all the after care that I have gotten. Had a med problem called and situation was resolved in 3 hours.

I too have a PPO Anthem Blue Cross. I don't mind going to San Francisco. I'm keeping a good eye on this forum as I have just passed my First Dr. approval ..my general doctor. He recommended someone who does Gastric Bypass, but the doctor called me saying that he wanted to preform his FIRST VSG with me........ummmm..well, no offense "Doc" but I may choose to travel to San Francisco "singing happy tunes" before I volenteer to be your "first" VSG patient. I appreciated the pep talk over the phone though LOL.

Anyways, Nov 11th 2010 just months ago Anthem Blue Cross approved this VSG surgery and I'm glad my regular doctor is supportive.

I'm READY to go the next step and I have a healthy jealousy of all you wonderful people who have had it done and having your life change. "I'm in".

Kev :D

I live in very far northern California and I have Anthem Blue Cross. The closest surgeon to me in 130 miles away in Chico, Ca. I chose to go with North Valley Surgical Associates: Dr. Ludwig. They have a program fee which is very high, but considering how far I have to travel, it is worth it. I hope you have success with the surgeon you found. It sounds like it!

Best of luck!

My doctor is wonderful- he has been doing lap surgeries for 9 or 10 years, and worked with the originator of the sleeve in New York.

He works with Palo Alto Medical Foundation doing surgeries at Sequoia and Stanford,

PAMF takes all kinds of insurance..

His web page:

Dr. John Feng

Thanks, I will look at the site...........

I can tell you the requirements, as far as Dr. Feng is concerned- you have psych eval, a couple of nutritionist appointments, and other health screenings depending on what you have done lately. I am in the middle of a whirlwind of tests- including an all night sleep study this coming Monday night, an upper gi, chest xray, treadmill test- I am trying to get as much done as fat as possible.

Every single person I encounter loves Dr. Feng. He is extremely skilled, kind , and caring- yet of course firm and holds you accountable.

I just had surgery with Cirangle on 12/28 and I live in the East Bay. His office acts like that is SO far away' date=' and they don't want to hassle me with driving over the bridge... I find it very sweet. I did my nutrition consult over the phone to avoid this.

And I though that one of my incisions might be infected so they told me to come on in (they normally have a 2-3 wk check up and I was 10 days out). I met w/ Cirangle and he told me that since I had come in that day to just wait another month since everything was going well.

I wouldn't discredit the follow up. Any doc should want to follow up at certain intervals to see how you're doing and make sure that you are losing weight at the right rate.

The practice in general is great. Cirangle is excellent at what he does (you should see how amazingly small and perfect my incisions are). My only complaint is that he is late for everything!!! He was 2hrs late for my first appt, and then 2 hrs late for my surgery to start. AHHHHHHHHHHHH[/quote']

Im having surgery with Dr Cirangle May 28! Im glad you think he is so good, it reassures me, How are you doing weightwise???

Hi, Meggiep! I just wanted to stop in on this older thread and say I really agree about Dr. Feng! I had my sleeve Sept 1 and have had a great experience. My recovery was really easy, I had no complications, and Dr. Feng is great to work with. I don't see him mentioned enough on the site, but he and the staff (and El Camino Hospital) are really top notch.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
