how do you get your protein in?

I used to hate it too but there are so many different kinds (brands / curd size) and I tried one once that had very small curds and I loved it!

I wish I liked cottage cheese, but it's just gross to me.

The only way I can stand to eat cottage cheese is to mix it with yogurt . It's not too bad that way.

I'd much rather drink a Protein shake than eat cottage cheese though.

other than shakes... do you have any tips to share for getting in enough Protein during the day? (esp. when it's hard to eat a lot!)

cottage cheese, (the Breakfast of champions) 1% of course, 1/2 cup packs 13 grams, it will take a while before you can eat a half cup but I start many days with this!! I love tuna, a whole can mixed with 2 TB of lite mayo and some dill pickles, 1/4 cup today, the other half tomorrow....with Special K crackers! Cod fish, grilled is great marinated in garlic, sea salt, extra virgin olive oil and ground pepper!! The list is endless really! I'd try and switch from 2% milk to 1% - the doctor took my 2 yr old grandson OFF 2% milk - he's drinking 1% now!!! Just a suggestion!! :)

I am not sure why you exclude Protein shakes - I know a lot of people hate them but you just have to look until you find something you like. I like GNC, and while they are more expensive, they are usually in some mall and the best thing is, that they let you return the product. I have tried it several times, I buy Protein powder, and try it. If I don't like it, I return it. I never have more than one serving, no need to abuse their awesome policy.

I have found that I really like the GNC Wheybolic Extreme chocolate and I think it is as close as possible to chocolate milk. It has no after taste IMHO and it packs a lot of great Protein (isolates, no concentrate). It also mixes very well so it is good to use without an electric blender.

Anyway, my nutritionist says a lot of sleeves continue to rely on protein supplements for ease of mind and I see this. I have a chocolate shake in the morning - 30g of protein and 140 calories, and it usually isn't too hard to get 30g in naturally. You can go all out and get the whole serving for 60g of protein and 280 calories and then never have to think about protein the whole day but often I don't want to sacrifice 280 calories on just a shake. It's not cheap, make sure you get a coupon or wait for the same (usually beginning of the month)

Other than this obvious, here are some other things I like:

Hummus with yogurt (greek/regular plain) - this makes for a nice hearty protein snack, add a little olive oil, curry powder or hot sauce on top for an extra kick but not necessary

Fage 2% yogurt - make sure to use the 2%, because the calories are about the same (maybe 10 cals more when comparing by weight) but it tastes a LOT better than the 0% versions of Fage, Oikos, Dannon and the like. If you can spare the calories and carbs, add a little maple Syrup or agave nectar

I am still on full liquid, so I have to wait for tuna, chicken and eggs :-(

As others have said tuna has become a big part of my diet. It's quick and easy to prepare and packed with Protein. Once I was onto soft foods and allowed to eat tuna was when I was finally able to meet my protein goal for the day. I mix it with Greek yogurt instead of mayo (there is no low/no fat mayo in Taiwan that I can find LOL).

Tiwian do you live there?

Yeah I have lived in Taiwan for about a year and 3 months and had my surgery done here as well. The only down side to WLS here is I have a hard time finding the low/no sugar stuff at the store that is so abundant in the States.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
