Real food is so good

Recommended Posts

I finally got to start to eat real food this week. It so satisfying to chew real food. I'm going easy, not jumping into tough meat. I've been having white fish, crab cakes, etc. Tonight we went to Red Robin :hungry: and I had a glass of wine and their parmigiano (sp) chicken burger - sans bun and skipped the lettuce and Tomato. I did indulge in a couple of fries. Wonderful! Could only eat half. The rest will be dinner tomorrow. DH continues to be amazed. Me too.

Yes, I too was excited to finally be allowed to CHEW some food again! I had tons of Jello, Soup, juice, broth etc. left-over from my healing stage and I knew I would never want it again! I donated it! I'm gonna CHEW when I can! Happy Healing!

I am two weeks post op & have done really well most of the time. I have to admit that I eat smoothies & super soft food 90% of the time but I have been starting to eat raw fish (sushi grade) & a few other very soft foods. I have to chew! I miss it more than I ever thought I would! I tried the gum but no satification. I feel really good & have been being really careful! Hope I am not harming anything...but anyway...food is good!!! (now I just have less of it):hungry:

I table the suggestion that fries aren't real food. :)

I can only imagine how much you feel unshackled after being on liquids / mushies.

Keep up the progress :)

I agree, Dawg. French Fries aren't real food. I only ate 2 of them. But pre-band I would have eaten all of them and ordered seconds, too. I didn't get banded to count calories and Proteins, etc. I want to eat like normal people, like I used to, but I had to curb my appetite ... to eat less. And so far, that is true. I'm loosing 1-2 lbs a week. When that stops, I will go in for a fill. In the meantime, I love eating again ... and so far (well, except once) no golf balls or pb's.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
