Hi everyone! I thought that I would introduce myself. My name is Michelle, I live in Texas, I am 31 years old and have been married for 5 years...no kids...yet!

I was banded on Feb. 9th. Loosing well so far. My biggest problem is eating too fast or too big of a bite. I get sick from that about once a week...you would think I would learn!

Nice to meet all of you!

I'm 38 years old, married with 2 boys. I was banded June 6th. I get my first fill on July 17th. So far I am down around 12 lbs. Just getting use to stopping when I am not hungry anymore. That is the biggest challenge. Nice to meet everyone.

me too julie, i had such restriction the first week or so. The last few days I have been able to eat much more, certainly not as much pre-band but definitely more then I th ought I would. Today I had 1 cup of Soup. 5 Light STring Cheeses, 6 Garlic stuff olives and one popsicle and one Protein shake! Geez, I am soo mad at myself!

Thanks so much Leila, Liz and Biggirlpantiez (love that name)! I am so excited, I won't sleep to good until I get banded. I've always been that way.. when I get excited about an up coming event... I NEVER SLEEP.

Big Girl, I have BCBS of Mass. I was approved within 2 and a half weeks, formally. My PA got a verbal that I was approved... a week ago. It just had to get signed off by the case manager. OHH and thanks for the cheering section!! LOL I loved it! Wow your surgery is next week!!!:omg: Yeahhhhhhh

Liz, your time is coming, we're not too far apart in surgery dates.

Once again, thanks for the well wishes! I hope everything goes just as good for you all.

Okay, now lets compare that to pre-band diet.... That's a grand total of????

cup of soup- 50 cals?

light string cheese- 90 cals x 5= 450 cals

popsicle- sugar free??? 0-90 cals

Protein shake (probably the best thing for you all day...)- 300 cals?

what the heck are garlic stuff olives?

Doesn't look like much more than a thousand calories.

Well, I haven't been around in a while so I thought that I would pop in and update. What a great thread idea.

I will be 33 in 11 days, I have 1 husband (who could deal with more), one son age 16 (shoot me) and one daughter age 14 (going on 24 - lil' miss attitude). I have been happily married for almost 17 years. We also have 3 cats and more fish than you can count (indoor and outdoor).

I was banded 9/12/05 and am down about 88 lbs right now. I love my band!

Nice to meet everyone!

My preop diet begins in a few short hours!!

I am limited to Clear liquids for one week:

boullion

tea

coffee

splenda

sugar free popsicles

Propel

natural fruit juices (not from concentrate and cut 50% with water) I got blueberry, pear, apple, apple cider, and dark cherry juices.

broth or Soup bases

That is pretty much it - oh besides WATER!!

The Dr. Asst said to suck on sugar free hard candies to curb hunger.

I have already warned my husband that I am not responsible for the eveil she-beast this will unleash!

Hi everyone. I am 36 and have a wonderful son. He has been my strength through this as I had some complications at the beginning. Things are going well now. I was banded on April 28, 2006 by Dr. Earl Fox in Tacoma, Washington. I have lost 35 pounds so far. I have hit a plateau (bummer). I have had one fill and I am scheduled for the second one on July 11th.

Let's all keep up the great work. Keep smiling.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
