Is dumping permanent?

Recommended Posts

It doesn't matter what I eat I dump. I know it's rare but can happen with VSG. Has anyone had this and it eventually go away?

Thanks

Hey you ARE still here, I knew we were to precious to leave!

I had a few instances of it a week and half ago, it seems to have stopped.

If you still have your gallbladder, you might want to have it checked. If you don't, it could be the transit time issue that usually resolves over the next few weeks. I've never heard of dumping on everything someone eats. There might be an underlying issue causing dumping symptoms.

You can try Probiotics to see if it'll help with the diarrhea and "gut issues".

Thanks for the answer Tiff. I think I'll try some Align or eat more yogurt, between moving and dealing with healing I didn't even think about that.

MP- I've made a few good friends on here actually even though most people don't understand where I am coming from. The reality is this surgery doesn't exactly come with an owner's manual and who better to ask than someone else who had the same surgery? If you don't want to deal with me, it's easy, don't read my posts and certainly don't reply.

Thanks again Tiff.

I think part of the problem is just going so long on liquids and then trying to eat mushies. It's probably a shock to the system. I am going to try eating more yogurt and perhaps some probioitics like Tiff suggested. I know Align is a popular choice.

I am sorry you can't see past the chip on your shoulder and understand that I was making the situation light and joking about how wonderful we were here. That said, I will be more then happy to put you on ignore.

I did fine during the phase my doctor had me on liquids and then full liquids. Now that I am on mushies, it doesn't matter what I eat. I get what feels like labor pains and then I have to RUN to the bathroom to make it in time.

Even I will apologize for that, but Humor is very difficult to see online. It's one of the pittfalls of both the English language's need to have emotion set with it and the lack of some personalization on a forum.

Carrie, do you think it just might take your body time to adjust to eating more "normal" foods and not so much liquids? Didn't you say you've pretty much been on liquids for quite some time?

I've read others who have said they've experienced diarrhea early out but then it went away .

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
