Pickles are great for curing a craving (when you're not sure what you want). Sometimes when I eat one of those big dill pickles I get a belly ache. As far as the band is concerned, as long as I chew well I don't have any problems. They are loaded with salt though and you might be more likely to retain Water. The vinegar is good for you.

I eat them quite often and never had any problem whatsoever. Just remember to chew them well (as with all other stuff you eat...)

I love sour pickles:hungry: , but I do not eat the skin. Like with alot of things, I get scared and just spit it out so it doesn't get stuck.

I have not had a problem with pickles. I ate one pickle spear very slowly. I have also eaten 3 or 4 hamburger slices slowly.

1 pickle is around 1800 mg sodium. (I am on a 2000 mg sodium restriction because of kidney problems.) American Heart Association recomments EVERY person eat less than 2300 mg sodium. That is almost equivalent to one pickle. So you decide if it's healthy or not. lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
