I'm wondering if there is any sort of 'rule of thumb' with stalling or not.

How far out were you if you experienced a stall in weight loss?

Are lower BMI's more likely to experience onw that higher BMIs??

I hit my first stall around 9-10 weeks post-op. Stalled for about 9-10 days and then started dropping again. I was a lower BMI to start with - 36.

I was sleeved on 6/11 and I lost 14 lbs within the first week and in the past 6 days have only lost 2!! Kinda bummed but everyone says it will kick into gear again.

I'm pretty sure I am in a stall right now. I am only 15 days out and I am in day 5 of no scale moving.

I haven't actually hit a stall yet but the weight loss is very slow and steady. I tend to weigh every day and measure my losses in ounces. I know that seems silly, but it keeps me happy knowing that with a few exceptions, I have lost a number of ounces everyday. When you've been fat and fought it as long as I have, just seeing the scale go down steadily, instead of up, is pure satisfaction.

I have a one week stall every month the week before my period starts: probably I'm retaining Water or something... I simply don't weigh myself for around 11-12 days a month, and always have dropped at least two pounds.

I had a stall around the 3-4 week post-op period that lasted for about 7 days. No movement but then things buzzed along. I am not concerned though because I do believe in this surgery and with following the rules, you really can't go wrong. Things will move when your body is good and ready. I think you also have to take into account how your clothes fit, too. You may not be moving much on the scale at times but your pants may be looser. That's progress! I am going through my 'old' clothes faster than I expected. I assumed I would have enough to last me until the end of the year but I think that thought is out the window now. I am down 4 sizes and I certainly didn't expect that. Good luck everyone.

See I was done a day before you and stalled for 3 days then lost 0.75lb..... but still a loss... so don't think I have hit it just yet, just a mini version!

Hi, I was a lower BMI- 35, and I am 2 and half weeks out and I noticed the last 4 or 5 days I only lost a pound. I lost 23 before that including post-op. Sounds okay with everyone else too. I am trying not to count and wait it out for the next 6 months but you know that's hard!!

I'm wondering if there is any sort of 'rule of thumb' with stalling or not.

I seemed to stall out a little when I went from full liquids to mushies. But I am steadily losing. I am a daily scale jumper too, hey it keeps me motivated to log my food everyday! About every 4 or 5 days the scale is either the same or will jump up a little and i simply do not record weight on those days cause it always goes down the next day. I am following a very low carb plan although I allow myself some flexibility on Saturday due to the weekend and trying to take a break but I am back on my strict plan Sunday through Friday. I also noticed during my period I do gain so again, I don't record weight at that time.

I am averaging a 2.5 to 3 pound loss each week. I consider that safe and great! My immediate goal is to be below 150 in time for my trip to Disney that is in 14 days. I have 4 pounds to go! My next challenge will be to stay on my plan during that week of vacation with my family. Although walking around Disney and the Water park should help with weight loss!

I also notice, if I am religious about getting my fluids in, my weight loss is consistent and good.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
