Kathy

Hey Kathy, can you start a list in the first post of who is having surgery on what days so we can keep track? I think that would be nice so we can encourage everyone along the way

Went in on April 6th to have it done but was allergic to the muscle relaxant they gave me and went into anaphalactic shock and was in ICU for a week and off work for three more!

So this is the second time I have to do this terrible liquid diet (Day 3-ahhhhhhh) and Im struggling! Plus I am sooo nervous but I didnt want to be a victim so rescheduled straight away!

My blessings and safe wishes to everyone!!

Today I ordered a bunch of stuff for my post-op. Hopefully I ordered enough Protein sample packs to keep me "entertained" through my 2 weeks of liquids post-op!

Monday is my pre-op appointment with the surgeon. After that, I have no other surgery-related appointments until I actually go in for surgery. I can't believe I'm 10 days away today. Starting to get even more excited and nervous. Aieeeee!!

I bought the sample pack from unjury.com and then a bunch of nectar ones from vitalady.com.

June 8 and for some reason Im finding myself not eating right and craving all sugary things. I dont have to do a pre-op liquid diet (except for 2 days) so I feel like eating everything in sight before Sunday. Is anyone else having these same feelings. also this is the first week in 6 months I didnt go to the gym I have to get my head on straight.

Mommyof4, I feel your pain. I am June 8th also, but I have a pre-op diet. Have I been following it to a tee? Nope (go ahead and flame me). I know why we do it - to shrink the liver and make the operation easier, but I felt it was more important to have the right mindset going into this. I could not do two 150 calorie shakes and one palm-sized meal a day and be "right" mentally. That being said, I have been doing low carb and trying to see what it will be like eating 6-9 months from now. The first 3 days of low carb are wicked, but after that, my hunger really dipped. Maybe a shake for mid-late morning, a slice or two of deli meat in the afternoon, maybe another shake mid afternoon and then I try and cook a dinner that my DH and I can eat together. Tonight was chicken marsala with lots of mushrooms served over garlic wilted spinach. It was devine, and I am full!

Prior to starting pre-op I have my chicken wings which I never really ate that often before) gyro, and of course my beloved french fries!, and I did it without guilt or remorse.

Do what ya gotta do, get in a happy place, and i will see you on the other side!

Been there!! I was like that a month ago on the build up to my 1 week pre op diet.....doing the familiar saying goodbye to certain foods despite the fact I know I will be able to eat the majority of them afterwards eventually!

I am on day 3 of pre op diet now.... liquids and Protein Drinks only.

I have been out as we have friends staying and went out for lunch yesterday, and also prepared them a couple of meals.

I am finding it easier than I thought I would, but maybe in a couple of days will change my mind on that one!!

But I realise that this can shift maybe 7-10lbs (I have lost 4.5lbs already) and give me a head start and also put my body in a better place for surgery, both weight wise and shrinking the liver as well.

Be strong......this is the hardest time as you still want to eat, at least afterwards we won't be able to!!

I am 3 days out from surgery and home yesterday! Trust me, all that desire to EAT leaves quickly! Lol. Trying to get down some cream of wheat today. First day of full liquids. Best friend right now is sugarfree popsicles which seem to go down easily and not "sit.". I had real issues with what seemed to be heartburn, indigestion which is starting to ease some now.

I'm scheduled for surgery on June 14. I have a two-week pre-surg diet. Before I started the diet, I wanted to eat and eat. It took me a while to find a brand of whey powder I could stand. Found out my Surgeon's office had some good stuff right there - Bariatric Advantage, and Power Crunch bars. Since starting on high-protein diet 10 days ago, have not been hungry, and lost 10 pounds.

I am soooo ready to get thin.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
