Week of February 8th ... join me?

Hello everyone,

I finally got my date on Wednesday! I'm being Sleeved on February 8th. Anyone else being Sleeved that week? How are you doing in getting ready?

Last week I was filled with anxiety as I had to go for my final weigh in to get scheduled for surgery. I had a terrible time sleeping as I just worried that I wouldn't make it. After finishing my pre-op class on Thursday and having my physical, the anxiety just melted away. I know I've made the right choice and I'm excited to get it on!

Last night I started cleaning out my closet and making piles. Dump, Donate, Consignment Shop. I found so many things that have been in the back of the closet that I haven't been able to wear since 2006 when I gained weight. Lot's of other things that haven't fit in way longer than that. What was I thinking in keeping them?

At my pre-op class, the case manager this week said that we'll be replacing everything, down to our shoes and not to buy anything until the current clothes are falling off.

This morning I woke up at had the urge (crazy, I know!) to clean the fridge of all the salad dressings etc that I won't be using anymore.

I feel like everything in me just wants to get ready. I'm staring down my desk for cleaning this afternoon. It all just feels like a fresh start to me and I want to get rid of anything that makes me feel cluttered in. I've been tossing things so fast all week.

I don't have a pre-op diet except to eat 1200 calories a day and stay at my pre-surgery goal weight of 230 on Kaiser's scale the morning of surgery. That means I need to be at 227 or 228 on my home scale. This morning I was up to 229.4 so I need to really be careful or they'll cancel my surgery. It's actually great because it gets rid of all thoughts of "last supper syndrome".

How are the rest of you doing?

I'm here cheering for all of you!

I got a very sore throat yesterday which has gotten progressively worse. I guess now I'm glad that my surgery date was changed to the 17th. Everything happens for a reason.

I can't wait to hear all of the wonderful reports from each of you! This is going to be a very good week of success stories. :sad0:

Hey Bella K, I am waiting for a date with Kaiser Fremont, I have had all the tests they asked me to have, Mamogram, pap, sleep apnea, psych, I have reached the surgery goal weight they set for me too, in fact i am below it by about 3.5 lb, I called in all the information to them when they told me to, now how do I get a date going, I want to get on a cancelation list if possible. I really want to get this rolling, I am anxious to light this candle and start losing. Any advice for me? I sure hope so thanks

The best advice that I can give is to contact the Case Manager because at Richmond, that's the person that schedules the surgery. I met with mine and she gave me an oral test and we talked about what I've been doing to prepare. If Fremont has a case manager, call and get an appointment. You're gonna be sleeved before you know it! Hang tough and keep calling them. They'll get sick of you.

Have you been assigned a surgeon yet? Email the surgeon to let them know that you've completed all requirements and would like a date.

Good luck and let us know how you're doing. :001_rolleyes:

So I am starting a 3 day liquid diet (not impressive for those for who have done it 2 weeks). I am not too nervous today but I expect that tomorrow the nerves will start. It helps to be busy packing and planning what to eat after I am post-op. I am also trying to do the 50 reps of breathing exercises the Doc prescribed. Anyone else have to do this? I don't mind because the deep breaths are actually relaxing.

Just can't believe that I will be on the losers' bench on Wed. I did the class with bariatric coordinator on Fri and that was great because she detailed exactly what would happen starting with when I arrive at the hospital at 5:30 AM:eek:.

I just want to wish all my fellow sleevers the best of luck!

Best of Luck Pennie!

My surgery is tomorrow at 12:15. I have been on the clear liquids for 3 days now and I am so hungry. Friday was difficult, Sat. better, and today was hard again. My stomach is gurgling all over the place and I want to EAT.... I was thinking today how long it will be before I actually have solid food in my stomach again and it was making me kind of sad. I feel a little emotional today. Not too nervous, although I am sure tomrorow when I get there I will be. I know that the coming weeks will be a challenge and then it will get better. So I need to focus on summer and how much better I will be feeling by then.

Good Luck to everyone having their surgery in the coming weeks. I will post when I can

Diane, We're all thinking of you and cheering for your successful surgery. Please let us know how you're doing as we all care!

Pennie, what day are you up? Are you Wednesday?

I'm very excited for you both!!

Diane, good luck tomorrow. OMG, a three clear liquid diet on a full stomach sounds brutal. I too think about it will be like to live on the protein drinks and shakes and not have food around for emotional comfort. I plan on becoming obsessed with the Winter Olympics to take my mind of the liquid diet. LOL. Anyway, let us know when you are back and positive vibes for a speedy recovery.

Bella, my surgery is on Wed at 7:30 in the morning. I have to be there at 5:30:scared0:.

Good luck to all my sleevers to be. Keep in touch:thumbup:

I've got all of y'all in my thoughts and prayers. I'll be combing the forum for updates from everyone. Sending y'all good vibes for an uneventful surgery and speedy recovery.

Stay positive, and know we're all scooting over for you on the loser's bench.

Hey surgery pals:

Well...the Pico Salax wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I now have a squeaky clean digestive system, and considering I've just been on clear fluids since last night I'm not that hungry.

I have to check in tomorrow at 6am, my surgery is at 7:50. I'm the first one in that morning.

I'm nervous....my DP is nervous, and the kids are a little wacky too.

:)

I have been reading everyones posts and thought I would join in. I am also having surgery on the 8th (which is today). It is after 1 in the morning and I will have to say I am very nervous. I have never had a surgery that I planned (gallbladder and apendix emergency). I can't really say that I like the feeling. I keep wondering did I ask all the questions that I needed to...am I making the right decision.... I know that I am tired of living in this body and can't wait to feel more like the person that I want to be. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers and I will check back in when I get home.

Diane, you doing ok this morning? :)

Got home yesterday and feel OK. Mostly I would say my stomach just feels raw. Had some problems feeling sick to my stomach the first two days but not so much now. More than anything I just have a headache and for some reason my arms ache. Has anyone else had that issue. All and all doing pretty good.
