  1. You should be proud of yourself. I'm a 10 year vet as well. I've had some serious medical issues the last few years and via medications and some poor eating choices I put on some weight. I'm on the road back to goal and I'll be thrilled when I get there. I'm hoping to be back there before the end of the year. I've actually done better during lockdown then prior with my eating. I'll try to check back as I can use the support as well.
  2. Chi everyone, I saw that this thread was active again so I wanted to pop in and say hello. Congrats on the new babies. I'm so sorry so many of you have had problems. I know a lot of RNY patients who had no problems if you're considering a revision. I still love my sleeve, but it's a daily mindfulness(diet) to maintain my weight loss. Getting off the weight was slow going for me. Keeping it off takes a lot of work eating low carb, but it's possible. Take care everyone. Happy 2015!!!
  3. I may be a Sleever but I still receive email updates on this group because I started here wanting a band, then switched to Sleeve. I'm really happy at over 3 years post op but I am on a strict food plan and exercise 5-7 times a week. The initial period with all of these surgeries helps get weight off but then it's hard work. I'd rather do the work in size 6-8 jeans than 22/24. How issue you all doing? Reggie, has it gotten any easier or you since your post last fall? Anyone switch to Sleeve? Take care everyone!
  4. I live my Body by Sauceda. The LBL is the easiest recovery. I had it all done at once. Arrived Thursday, body Friday, face Monday, moved to hotel Wednesday. Movie and lunch out Friday, Saturday. Dinner out every evening. Monday to the mall, lunch, evening movie. Tuesday getting stitches out. Wednesday fly home. A friend came with me for support. Her hotel was paid by Dr. S. when I was ready I moved into our room at the Hampton Inn. Dr. Sends a driver to the airport to pick us up, then paid for my taxi back to airport. Nurse Patti comes to the hotel daily. Dr. Comes by daily to check on you.

    flat butt help

I had a very successful butt flap done with my LBL in December 2011. It healed beautifully. My surgeon is Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey Mexico. Prices are great and include clinic and hotel stay as well.
  6. Hi, Google BMI calculator. Healthy BMI is determined by gender and height. I am female, 5'4". The top of my healthy range is 145. At 146 I am overweight. At 176 I am obese. I strive to stay in my healthy range. I wear size 6-8. Jeans so at 62, I feel good about that. It also keeps me at Lifetime status for Weight Watchers. I go once. Week to stay accountable to myself to not ever go into denial. I use the Bariatric food plan, not WW points. I had Dr. Baggs. I am 2.5 years out from VSG.
  7. The coordinator for Dr. Ponce told my friend the same thing. I booked the Lucerna myself for the same rate that the coordinator told us. Just google it.
  8. I have heard that the Federal insurance plans approve more than any other plan. Good luck! That said, I would go as low as you can weight wise so that you get the best results. Don't sell yourself short. Your Sleeve is a powerful tool!
  9. I stayed five nights in the clinic and seven nights at the Hampton Inn. Dr. Sauceda included it in the cost of my surgery. The Hampton is now around $88 a night including tax. I just booked it for a friend.
  10. I had the bodywork on 12/9/2011 and the face work on 12/12/2011. Two surgeries. The first was 13 hours using an epidural and twilight sleep. It was great. I was up all night reading and watching movies when I got out of recovery.

    Butt Injections

Hello, Dr. Sauceda is in Monterrey Mexico. My recovery is good but the butt flap augmentation is uncomfortable. I could lay in bed the same night but laying on the floor was too uncomfortable for months. I finally started back to Pilates Reformer machine classes after seven months. Dr. Sauceda will give you a personal quote is you send him your pictures. Wear bikini panties. Pics of front, sides, back, raised arms etc. I also sent face and neck pics because I wanted that done. Email him at drsauceda@gmail.com. He doesn't have a secretary, so nely he sees your pics. I think the quote is good for six months. He was more than half less than what Kaiser quoted and he is a great surgeon who specializes in massive weight loss. If you email him, tell him that Lee sent you.

    Eyelid Surgery?

I had both upper and lower eyelids done when I had my plastics. I am 61 and I think that having my eyes opened up like that really made me look younger!

    Scar Creams?

I bought the Bio Oil but did not think it did much good. I've heard that the most important thing is to massage the incisions. My sleeve scars disappeared just massaging with lotion. I am currently using Gene's Vitamin E cream from Sam's club because it's very thick so I can vigorously massage my plastics incisions. I used silicone strips but try are expensive and a pain in the butt.
  14. Hi, the procedures that I had are listed in my surgery. I went to Mexico weighing 151.5. Dr. Sauceda removed 6.5 pounds of skin and two liters of fat were lipoed from my thighs, then injected into my butt. I weighed for the first time two weeks post op when I got home from Mexico. 145. So I was down exactly the weight of the skin that was removed. I did not suffer from a lot of swelling. Hope that helps answer your question!

    Butt Injections

I had my p,antics after I got to goal. Dr. Sauceda injected the fat from my thighs into my butt. He also used the strip of skin that was removed during my lower body lift. He placed it at the top of my tush, under my waist to create a nice round tush. I would wait until after you're at goal.
  16. Hello, I went to Dr. Sauceda in December 2011. I had the following procedures. 12/9/2011. LBL, long thigh lift, liposuction to thighs, fat from thighs injected into butt, butt flap augmentation to create a round butt, arm lift, breast lift with reduction. 12/13/2011, both eyelids, facelift, neck lift I stayed in the Linux for five nights, then went to a hotel for 7 nights. Dr. Sauceda came daily and his nurse came to bathe me, redress my incisions and wash my compression garments for me. All of this was included in the price of my surgery. After 13 hours in body surgery, followed by two hours in recovery, I spent the night playing on my iPad and watching movies. The next morning I was out of bed walking around, taking pictures of myself. The worst pain was the facelift. Kaiser wanted 4 surgeries and over $55k. Dr. Sauceda was more thn half that. Please one join the Dr. Sauceda group on OH to read more. I am happy to answer questions but for pricing you will need to drop an email to drsauceda@gmail.com with pics. I sent mine wearing panties. Front, back, sides, arms raised etc, as well as face picture. He will write back what he thinks he can do to help you and give you a price quote. Please tell him that Lee sent you!
  17. Hello, I'm glad to see people posting here again. I spend online time over at Obesity Hel but lays wonder how everyone is doing. Mo, the Contra Costa lunches are still happening. I still love my Sleeve. It's work to maintain but so much easier tan without it. I'm 2.5 years out nd it still works if I stay away from sugar and white products. It's still a diet and I track my food daily on Myfitnesspal. I lost my job of 18 years back in December so I'm using the time to walk/hike 35-40 miles a week in the East Bay. I'm always happy for company. I had full body plastic surgery in December in Mexico. I'm going back for a few revisions in September. Kaiser support is still 1st and 3rd Wednesdays. Liz leads the group. The first meeting in September is a Plastic Surgeon speaker. Love to see all of you there! Lee.
  18. Go for it! I was 61 in December when I had full body surgery in Mexico with Dr. Sauceda. Best money I ever spent! I have felt bad about my body for decades. Now I look in the mirror and smile at my reflection. You can see in my signature everything I had done. I watched movies all night after my 13 hour body surgery and was up walking around the next day. A week after my body work I went out to lunch and to the movies. It was so much fun I did it three days in a row while in Mexico. It's way less painful then you might imagine.

    Tummy Tuck...have You Had One?

Dr. Sauceda is doing consults in Las Vegas June 1& 2. He's a fabulous surgeon. Everyone is a different priced depending on the combination of surgeries. You can see everything that I had done in my signature. I paid a bit less than $20k and it included 20 hours of OR time, clinic for five nights, hotel for 7 nights, airfare (if cost is over $7k,, up to $600), daily surgeon visit to hotel, nurse to hotel daily to bathe you and redress incisions. Transfer to and from airport, two sets of surgical garments. Please let me know if you'd like additional info. I did my consult via email with pictures but it's great to meet the Doctor.
  20. Congratulations. I'm sorry you've had such a rough time of it. I know that every doctor is different. My plastic surgeon kept me in my full body (calf to elbow) binders 24/7 for six weeks. Please remember that you can put your binder back on if you start to swell. I'm glad they got your infection under control!
  21. I just wanted to come by and say hello! In reading back I see that some of you were having some difficulty at the beginning of the year. I hope it's gotten easier! Are any of you on ObesityHelp dot com? I think it's a great place for support and the have a band forum as well. I am doing good with my sleeve. I finally got to goal, then went to Mexico in December for full body plastic surgery. I love the results but it's a long healing process. Mo, the Contra Costa group still meets for lunch. I get there every few months. It's moved to a new location. Come sometime! Take care everyone, Lee

    Tummy Tuck...have You Had One?

Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey Mexico has the. Best prices and does incredible work. You can send your pics (in bikini underpants, front, both side, back, arms raised) yo drsauceda@gmail dot com. I had all of mine done in December. The clinic and hotel are both great. Care is exceptional.
  23. I'm sorry you are having to jump through these hoops. Do you have any medical conditions or family history of conditions that would make the Sleeve a better option. I couldn't have RNY because of rheumatoid arthritis and need for meds in the future if it comes out of remission. My mom had celiac spruce and I'm showing signs so te sleeve was my only option. You should start thinking about how to build a sleeve case. Maybe switch to Fremont? They do a lot of sleeves.
  24. I was sleeved at Richmond 2/17/2010. I was one of the first sleeves and mine was for medical reasons. After that they became more standard. Dr. Baggs had performed very few sleeves when I had mine. When did you have the Band surgery? They were mostly doing band and RNY. Maybe the suggested RNY is because of damage done to you stomach, making this safer? You can always self pay in Mexico for a sleeve.
