I went to Mexico for my surgery because everyone I contacted in the States said I didn't qualify at my BMI (under 30).

I have had a problem with my weight for my entire life and have struggled my entire life. After discussing with Coordinator (Salesperson) on the phone I decided I would go for it!

I had it done in Mexico in March of 2006 and went back for a fill the next month and he put in 5 cc's. Still nothing! Went to new Doc in April and had another cc and then recently another 3/4 cc.

Since, I have found a great Doc. in my area that will do my fills, expensive though because I had my surgery in Mexico. I did find out that he will do surgeries under 30 BMI and get ready for this, is cheaper than Mexico!!!

Who wouldathunk!!! Cheaper and of course if he does it, he includes the fills in his price, still cheaper than Mexico!!!

I found out the Doc. in Mexico put in the wrong band in me and put my port to close under my skin so it's bulging out of my stomach. That will look really attractive once I start losing.

My new Doc. is telling me how I have to change this and that and exercise etc.......I told him I can do this and lose weight without the band!! He told me he would have never put a band in me and would have done another surgery.

Just remember in Mexico, that is all they do is put in bands. They don't care about your welfare or if you need this or that, they just want to get the money from you and what recourse do you have? NONE!!

Talk to me before you go to Mexico and I will tell you who to go to.......

Why would I name the doctor? I know who he is and what he did, I need not to prove myself to anyone!!!! If anyone knows anything about the legal system, you don't mention names on the internet....dumb ass!!!

I had a great experience in Mexico. I was banded 5 years ago this month by Dr. Rumbaut. He still ranks as the best medical professional I've encountered. Since that time, I've been in US hospitals twice (both top teaching facilities) and I had much better care in Monterrey, Mexico.

There are unscrupulous docs everywhere. If the criteria for placing a Band is a BMI of 30 or 40 (now they're researching it for BMI's in the 30-35) range.... and you ahd one placed with a lower BMI and found a doc willing to do so... then those are your issues. There are unscrupulous money-hungry docs everywhere... there are ophthalmologists who will do LASIK on anybody... regardless of corneal thickness or vision stability. Does that make all ophthalmologists bad? Or LASIK a bad procedure?? No. But one has to be a smart patient in choosing one's doc.

You said a lot more than this SDS, however you chose to send in private messages. When someone suggest therapy for someone else, they may want to look in the mirror! You should be frightened to have your surgery in Mexico.....Bad Karma!!!!

OK people, Im Fairly new here and not banded....yet. But I have done alot of reading here and value everyones opinion. May not agree with everyonem but value it anyway. This is a forum, Right? for people to share, gather info, and vent not attack. I sent a message privately to Willbethin telling her this, and that I valued what she had to say and that I was sending it privately due to not wanting to ruffle anyones feathers, or get any rude responses. I asked for the info on what doctor here in the states would do the surgery for what the Mexico surgeons would because I would like to research him to see if he would be an option for me. I was asked to post my question here and would get a response.
