I have had my lapband for one and one half years now and it really doesn't work for me unless I have so much restriction I have to puke and can't get any food down. I was down to my ideal weight until I was so sick and tired of puking and needed a juicy steak and mash potatoes! Well I am up 10 pounds with less restriction and the doctor keeps saying, "eat right and eat the right things and you can't live on liquids alone"! I have come to the realization that this thing is nothing more than a temporary fix like all the rest! My BMI is 24 so they won't do any other surgeries on me. I am not really sure what to do? If I could do what the doctor's tell me I wouldn't have had a weight problem all my life. anyone out there with the same feelings as me? :help:

When someone suggest therapy for someone else, they may want to look in the mirror! You should be frightened to have your surgery in Mexico.....Bad Karma!!!! Perhaps you can do something more productive and send them to each other because the each of you are very ingnorant, angry, and lonely and maybe can help each other out?

I take it this was sent by Papa Joe? When you assume, you make an ass-u-me! Let's not talk about ethics here!!! Remember it was the doctor in Mexico that did the surgery and was paid to do it and had performed almost 5,000 lapband surgeries thus far!! Maybe it takes longer for some to catch on to what I am saying?????

I am not sure why you think I am lying? You wrote days ago stating my thread was the reason you were not posting to this forum? You can't seem to keep away??? I have no reason to lie and I am only warning others with my experience. If you choose to continue acting like a child along with Fishy than perhaps you need to do what you said from the beginning. I don't need to waste my time with games and ignorance I have much more important things in my life. I check my emails once a day and don't stay on line all day trying to pick fights or call people liars as you and Fishy seem to have been doing lately. He started sending his messages privately!

The doctor's also use the Swedish Band, there are 2 brands as far as I know, Swedish and INAMED. I have also been told that the Doctor's in Mexico use the Swedish Band often because they get them cheaper then the INAMED bands. I requested the INAMED FDA approved band so that when I had fills in the States I wouldn't have problems with other doctors, however I was recently told that the 11 cm band (that wasn't suppose to be used on someone of my size) is not FDA approved. I was requesting some reliable information. What your saying is, the 11 cm band was FDA approved at one point and then they made some changes but failed to get it FDA approved this time?

I didn't realize how important it was (blood work) until after the surgery....I am only trying to make a point that there are things you have to watch out for when going to another Country for a surgery. Mostly Post Op issues. I am sure it gets pretty costly (transportation and accomadations) going back and forth for fills and leaks? I hope he steps up to the plate like your'e assuming he is????? I didn't read the post but if someone is making threats to another that is not Free Speech that's more like a crime. I had many personal attacks in regard to my post yesterday that wasn't related to anything described in my thread! I agree it does take much strength not to strike back at the ignorance in people so I do give her a lot of credit.

I did not direct that to one particular person. It was meant for my opposition to deleting threads. What I was saying is, if you're going to post than expect to hear intelligent responses and not so intelligent responses, they shouldn't be deleted because some responses are not warm and fuzzy!!! I had a lot of people attacking me with my post but most of them didn't even understand the point I was trying to make, even the person who deletes threads thought I was advertising for a doctor????

I agree! with not deleting any postings! If you (the person posting) can't handle the heat, get out of the fire!!! If you are going to post opinions then you need to expect some will reply with helpful suggestions and others will reply with ignorance. That is everyone's right to "Freedom of Speech"!

Whatever! Maybe your Doctor lied to you! I am not arguing with someone about how many lapband surgeries he or anyone else has done. I am talking about your rights after surgery if there are complications! Read up! Read the link from Photonut!!!

Kurt, It sounds like you may need to do some more research and perhaps read some of the people on here that have had complications in Mexico i.e., Photonut's link. My doc. in Mexico is a good lapband doctor. He is good at putting them in, afterall he has put in 5,000 with only one death thus far! But that was the patient's problem I was told. I had my surgery in the largest most modern hospital in Mexico. They did no blood work before the surgery and no one spoke engilsh when I was trying to ask why? How convenient. If I would have bleed during surgery they wouldn't know what blood type to order. Some of these things you need to think about. I didn't hear about all the complications because they don't go back to Mexico when there is complications, who would!!! It is all about Post Op not how good the doc can put in the lapband or how many he has put in. It appears that you and Miper70 have the same doc. and that's fine but that doctor is not the President of US. You would defend a doctor in Mexico over your own President. If you claim he is not your Pres. than move to another Country and see how good things are. I can guarantee you won't have Soldiers fighting for your freedom and safety! Good luck to you!!! Do me a favor next time you're wrong don't use our President as a cop out for your own stupidity!

Why didn't you choose a Doctor in the States? Cheaper? I know why I didn't! I feel sorry for you, perhaps when you lose some weight you won't be so angry and a know it all? You seem to miss my point. I hope nothing serious happens to you on the table or when you return, who you going to see then????

Perhaps, don't care was a little harsh. Let me say, I feel they are in it for the money and if Americans weren't going over there for the lapband then they would be doing something else.

I am not sure what the President has to do with the lapband but your comment certainly shows how ignorant people can be. This is exactly why I am trying to show others there is a choice out there and Mexico isn't the only option. Big deal if the Mexico doctor has done 4,000 lapband procedures! That is all they do because that is what the Americans are paying for.

The INAMED band is FDA approved. The other is made in SWEDEN and is a much better band and has less slippage. The doctors also get the swedish bands cheaper. If you go to Mexico you have no idea what band you're getting even if they give you literature from another box. All I am saying is that you have recourse in the States, you have little to none in Mexico.
