Thanks Mary,

I did end up going alone and everything was just fine. Today is Day 4 post surgery. Today, I feel pretty good. A little weak though because I am on liquids. Still worth it!!

Jilly

How are you feeling, day 4 you should be feeling a little better. I'm 11 days out and feel pretty good. I put in a long day at work yesterday and was sore after. But overall I feel great. Wishing you a speedy recovery and weight loss!

Hi Bernadette!

Okay, so today is Day 6. My biggest stressor is getting my fluids and Protein. I hate the Isopure drinks and I hate "sipping" Water all day. I am used to downing my water three times a day. I feel like I would rather have an IV.

Will you give me an idea about your diet these days?

Other than that, I am great. I have lost eight pounds. I start a new job one week from tomorrow but I think I will be fine by then (right?)

I love my sleeve so much. I feel so free!

How are your incisions healing?

How much weight have you lost in the eleven days?

Hi Jilly

I'm having trouble getting all my Water in too, I feel so full all the time. Plus water tastes weird! I have been drinking Vitamin water and that helps, but they are so sweet and I don't like a lot of sweets.

I have been eating refried Beans, cottage cheese, yogurt, pudding, Soups etc. I love the fact that I eat only a few bites and I'm full.

I have lost 12lbs in 11 days, and I don't have as much to lose, so you will lose even more and faster.

I went back to work Friday, and I can tell you by about 5 hrs. I was feeling it. I made it through both Friday and Saturday, just tired when I was off.

I took my stitches out today, well all of them except the ones around the drain. I had one spot that still is not healed enough so I will wait a few more days.

I love my sleeve, I can't believe how fast I'm losing and that I'm not hungry all the time, it's great!!!

I know you will love yours too, no maintenance no fuss!

Oh, thank you so much for responding! Dr. Aceves cautions that we can only drink Clear Liquids for ten days. I have done it for six. I am going to add a Protein Shake starting tomorrow. I will be careful though.

Please keep me posted. It helps so much.

Hi Tracy,

I am wonderful. I have zero problems. The surgery was a huge success!! Who is the other surgeon you are considering? For me, it was between Aceves and Alvarez. I have heard great things about both. I chose Aceves because for logistic reasons. I am very happy with my decision.

Jilly,

That is great to hear! My other surgeon was Dr. Joya in Puerto Vallarta. I don't have any concerns that made me think Dr. Aveves, more for a slightly cheaper price, easier to get back to if f/u needed, and that the docs check on you in the hospital. I have heard some great things about Dr. Joya from people in the Washington area, several of them RNs like me, so I didn't change my mind lightly. I was looking originally at OBC, but the nutritionalist Miranda required that I lose 75lbs before surgery, they will not do anything unless your BMI is 55 (?) or less. I did try to lose the weight on Medifast, but the soy in the drinks made me very ill feeling all the time. And if I could lose 75lbs by myself I would have already!:scared0: I must admit that OBC telling me I was to fat for WLS really messed with my head, as I was seeing it as my final option. I'm glad I researched more and found Dr. Joya and Dr. Aceves.

Don't afraid to go there! I did well twice with them!! Go for it! He is an awesome Dr. Pm if tiy have more questions!

Bernadette

Sounds like you are doing great!! You will love the tasted of the chicken broth. You will also be surprised at how little you can have before you are full. Dreaming of pizza...LOL, was it pepperoni?

I still have little bouts of gas pain, not much just a little pain in the shoulder.

Good luck on your venture home, glad that you are doing so well!!!

:tongue_smilie: WooHoo. My surgury is set for April 10th with Dr Aceves. Their was a March 20th date open, but the instant panic attack I had with the time so close forced me to move the date out a little. I feel good about the decision.

I started a strict Adkins diet for the last week and will continue till surgury. He is only asking for the 14 day pre-op, but with my BMI, I figured the longer the better! I noticed that I have had no carb cravings with this attempt at Adkins. I beleive my metformin is finally working on my PCOS and insulin resistance....

Do they reqiure all the same testing as USA. I have had all the testing. A little blip on the stress test. They want to do the cath and postpone. What tests does Dr. Aceves make you do?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
