How long have you been sleeved?

Recommended Posts

I'm curious to see how long its been since your surgery, this forum seems relatively new, and I know the sleeve surgery as a stand alone surgery is gaining popularity, has anyone here been sleeved longer than 2,3 or 4 years?

I had my revision from band to sleeve on June 3rd, 2009.

I haven't seen a lot of patients on here that are more than 2 years. There are several long term sleevesters on OH.

I had my surgery at the end of April.

I really don't think there is anyone who has had the sleeve who

posts on this board longer than 2 years, like you are asking about.

I was looking for long term results people my self, and could not find any. I do know they have been doing this surgery for over 5 years. (stand alone) I wish we had some long term posters. I think they loose interest and get on with their lives. I am going to change that by promising to post at least 2 times a year after my one year surigerversary. How about it, sleeve sisters? We can start a thread and keep it permanent? Susan?

This are a couple of posters who have had their sleeves over a year.

The people who have had their sleeves longer than one year post

on obesityhelp.com like tiffy said. That board is much older than this one. This board is set up in a way that is easier to read though.

I had my surgery done almost a month back and even I was looking what people have to say who had their surgery done couple of years back...I had my surgery done by Dr. Miguel A. Zapata, in Monterrey, Mexico. For me, so far so good....

Thanks! I'm trying to figure all this out and read all I can before my surgery on January 5th!

My Great Aunt had stomach cancer in the mid 70's and they removed the majority of her stomach. They did not have to re-route her intestines so I assume it probably was very similar to the sleeve. Unfortutantely she passed away...36 years later at the age of 94. She was as thin as toothpick though and lung cancer is what got her. She smoked 3 packs a day until she passed.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
