Hi ML,

Just wondering how your surgery went. I know I did not want anything to do with the phone or computer for 2 - 3 days. I wasn't in pain but just couldn't get comfortable. Hopefully once you get home and a good nights sleep you will be up to posting.

Saying a prayer that all is well.

Hugs,

JoAnne

I want to thank everyone for all your prayers and support. Sorry I have not got on here to let you all know how I am doing. I got on here a few night ago and left a message on the thread "Fellow Sleevers" but I was not feeling well so I had to stop. I am feeling better today. This is the best I have felt all week since surgery on Dec. 2. I am so surprised that I did not have hardly any pain, except the gas pains. I have been tired and have had severe nausea up until today. I am grateful though that I have not had any vomiting. I went to the flea market I think on Sat. and walked around alittle bit and I walked a few times yesterday, but today it rained all day. So I decided to go to the Y and get on the stationary bike, I went slow kept within my target heart rate. I want to go back to my swimming classes so bad, but I have to wait until my incision heals. I will be going back for my 2 week check up in a week and I will ask the doctor if I can go back. I will find out how much exercising I can do in the Water. I am so excited about my journey. I am hoping that I am doing ok on my post op diet. I am going to have to read more comments to see how everyone else is dealing with their post-op diet. I have to be on pureed foods for one more week. Today I had a hard time getting enough Protein in, but I am doing ok on getting enough liquids as far as I know. My Body Water mass is only at 35 % which I think is low, I think for a female my age it is suppose to be 47%. I don't know if I am getting the figures correct or not. For the past 12 weighs on my new scale, I have been at 33-37 % Water mass. If anyone knows about this, please let me know because I sure don't want to get dehydrated. I was told to get at least 32 oz. of Fluid in per day and try to get 64 oz. in.

I do know that I have not been walking as much as I should, but now that I am feeling better without all that nausea, maybe I can get in more walking time. I will try to come back more often. I hope I don't keep repeating myself, but I tend to forget what I have previously posted. Thank you all!! Does anyone know what the correct % of water weight should be for a 55 year old female on the scales?

Hang in the ML - you're still freshly out of surgery, so don't push yourself and certainly don't beat yourself up about not getting in the walking - you will be very tired the first few weeks until you start on mushies, that seems to improve one's energy level. Take it easy and allow you body to recover from the major surgery you just went through - you will have a lifetime for walking, swimming and exercising, taking a few weeks off is not going to sabotage your weight loss. Focus on healing, and not feeling guilty for not walking. Healing is your #1 priority right now.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
