Help!! What is wrong with me??? Eating w/in days of post-op

Recommended Posts

I literally have tears in my eyes right now and I'm so scared for you. People on this board don't jump on people for their bad food choices. But eating that stuff after just a few days out is so scary, people are really worried about you. I'm REALLY worried because you haven't posted again in this thread. If you're not ready for this surgery that's fine... you can go back to eating that stuff, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE wait a few weeks until you're healed. The wrong choices in the first couple weeks can kill you :confused1:

You are really playing with fire. Just because you say you feel fine, doesn't mean you are. Like someone said, a tiny particle could get stuck in your staple like and cause a severe infection as well as a leak.

Then you will end up in the ICU for awhile and not be able to eat for a long time. You should contact Tiffy and find out what she went through with pockets of infection.

All I can say is, ITS not worth it! Just think about the risks and stay away! I do believe that the further along you get the easier it gets (because you do actually get to eat certain things eventually). I am about 7 wks out and I dont have cravings at all, where in the beginning I did.

Just hang in there and don't eat another thing off plan!

I don't understand how you can even tolerate those foods. I'm 3 1/2 weeks post-op and still have trouble keeping anything down. The quantities just sound like too much for this surgery. I don't see how you have the physical capacity for these things if the surgery was done correctly. I eat less than an ounce of food and have to stop, so I'm just wondering how you can eat three mini-candy bars. I'm sorry you're experiencing this. I'm one of the lucky ones - I don't have any hunger or cravings. I do have other issues though, I burp almost constantly which makes eating difficult and I am having a lot of trouble getting the Protein Drinks in.

I'm a lost cause... I just had a few small bites of my daughters Pepperoni pizza (pizza hut) -- of course I'm chewing everything to almost a puree but still, this is crazy. Last night when I checked her Halloween bag, I believe I hate 3-4 mini candybars.... yes! Of course, I'm taking tiny bites but still. Ahhh, anyways I am starting first thing tomorrow (but boy, the first part of this sentence sounds like my typical broken record) --- But anyways, I'll start again tomorrow and try to work one day at a time and stick to the pure clear liquid diet just one day and then work on day 2 completing it. My frustration is I haven't stuck to the liquid diet in it's complete perfection AT ALL. I really want to do this successfully, my gosh I paid thousands of dollars out of my own pocket. I am severely screwed up. Maybe I just wasn't ready mentally for the surgery, I don't know. Anyways, tomorrow I will give my everything to start and complete 1 day of the clear liquid diet. Thanks for listening:sad0:

We've not heard from you since the beginning of the month. Just wondering if you are in the hospital somewhere?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
