I had my first NSV the other day. My 10 year old daughter put her arms around my waist and said, " Mom! I can get my arms right around you and clasp my hands together!" I have to say, I was elated at her delight and the fact that she noticed she could do that and told me!

I just got sleeved 12/23 but I could not believe how loose my watch got. It's a fairly heavy piece n I love it to death. But it slid all over my wrist and to the side that it was actually a nuisance. I took it off until a later point when I can take a while link or two out lol. Lost 17lbs so far ;)

My favorite NSV to date (and this one will be hard to beat). Back in September, a few weeks pre-op, I joined a local gym to add to my home treadmill options. The step glider there kicked my tail! If I kept the pace up just at that thing's stall speed, my heart rate would go way too high. After ten minutes of trying to workout and that thing pausing all the time, I gave up and went back to the treadmill. This week, I did 65 minutes on it (on level 5 hills) and kept my heart rate dead in the middle of "cardio" workout. This is my favorite because it speaks to the real reasons behind this surgery--to get healthy.

Oh yes, and my A1C dropped from a 6.8 to a 5.1.

found this post and LOVING it... about halfway thru all the NSVs.... so I'd like to add of few of mine:

1. was able to cross my legs was HUGE when I realized I could do that...but I was able to cross them in a movie theater and had room!!!

2. the pants falling down issue happened with me too, my new friend-a belt!!! I never used one before.

3. smaller EVERYTHING... donated to GW and cleared out closet...the other day I was wearing one of my newer blouses and my friend told me to get rid of it, it's too big and made me look frumpy!

I'm sure there have been many more, but just being able to walk up a flight of stairs without losing my breath speaks to the healthier side of me...LOVE MY SLEEVE!!!!

Well today I went to just try on some jeans at White House Black Market. This was one of those stores I would have never gone into before my weight loss. I am at a size 10 in jeans which is just unbelievable to me. So I go in the fitting room with a pair of size 10 jeans and lo and behold they were too big. The salesperson go me a size 8 and they fit fine (not even tight). This is beyond my goals when I thought about this surgery. I didn't buy them since they were like $70 or $80 but to know I am a size 8. I can't stop smiling.

Being able to walk up stairs without huffing and puffing!

Bending down to tie my shoes!

Fitting in a booth without my stomach pressing on the table!

Shopping in the none plus size department (still can't wrap my head around it)!

Having more energy!

I was out shopping with my husband of 25 years. He looked for me in the store and couldn't "find" me. Turns out he just did not recognize my new, smaller size. I am much closer to the size/shape of the woman he married. I hope he remembers me!

I bought a relatively new Eddie Bauer knit top that was labelled as medium on the sale tag at value village. I thought great: nice shirt - it is going to fit well as medium tops fit me well. And I like Eddie Bauer clothing for weekend wear when I can find it. When I got home, my wife told me it was really a size small based on the inside tag . I put it down, bummed and forgot about it for a few days. I "found" it again a few days later when looking for a warm comfy shirt to wear and put it on, forgetting that this was a small size. It fit nicely. Just right. I get downstairs and my wife reminds me that i was wearing the "small" shirt from value village. I thought, wow - since when does small fit me. It felt just like a medium in the other tops I wear. Eddie Bauer must run their cuts larger. Regardless, it is kind of neat I fit into a small top comfortably, even with my athlete upper body shape. Perfect fit.

I am a painter. I posted a painting the other day for some friends to see. It had my face in it, and some other background things... anyway, one of my friends here said "is that an older painting? You need to do a new one showing how you look NOW" I didn't even realize I was painting myself "fat"

I'm smaller than my sister!!! I have always been the fat sister, now I am smaller than she is. As a matter of fact, I went through a box of clothes that she was getting ready to donate because all of the clothes were too small for her and I found all kinds of nice things that fit me. I know she is happy for me, she is my sister and she loves me, but she is having some difficulty with this role reversal.

I went on a Water slide at the new aquatic center in my town (Snohomish, Wa)! I was nervous about going down- thinking I was going to get stuck, not enough water on the slide to get me down (still in my 330lb brain there). My sisters told me if I got stuck, they would get stuck- since they are both bigger than me now (also a first for me)- and they went first and did fine. My first ride on a water slide since I was about 13 and I hollered for joy all the way down- so fun and so fast! If anyone lives locally, come check it out! They have a lazy river, play area for toddlers, water slide, flow rider (indoor surfing), hot tub, plus a full competition pool for lap swims. It's awesome- I'll have to try Aqua Zumba soon too!

I got to say i love the fact my clothes are all very baggie on me and time to buy new. But glad the double chin is gone. I can breath normal when walking. I dont sound like someone that needs oxygen anymore. I will final be able to go on amusement park rides. Its so upsetting when u find out u to big for ride or belt dont fit. Cant tell u how many times i cried because the fat mom could not fit on ride and your child needs an adult to ride with them. And to have to explain to your child he can ride because you dont fit.

Worked out with my honey today. We went to a small class at my trainer's gym. There were two men and two women in the class. So it became a girls vs. boys HIIT race. We ladies smoked them. Never thought I would see the day that I am in better shape than he is!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
