I was waiting for a great size story before I posted here, but something happened I couldn't hold in:

My two year old was watching me get undressed in the bathroom. Now normally she sings the "I like em big, I like em chunky" hippo song from Madagascar 2 when Im mooning her by mistake or really because she doesn't belong in the bathroom.

But last night she said "Mommy, why you skinny?" I almost cried. I asked what did she mean and she just said "you skinny". Granted I just came off of a 11 day stall and lost 2 lbs and I was a little down in the dumps; but when she said that I just lit up!

Awesome story! So happy for you, can't wait for my own story to come...My sx date is 5/18/10! Can't wait! Thanks for sharing:thumbup:

NSVs are hard to come by these days for me, but yesterday it happened.

I did 4 hours of yard work. We have about 1.5 acres, and it's been over 3 weeks since we were able to mow (damn rainy weekends in Florida). Anyways, I mowed, trimmed hedges, trimmed our large tree in the front yard, and cleaned out the mulch so I could replace it this year.

We have a riding lawn mower and it only takes me about 1.5 hours to mow so that was a breeze. But, all the other stuff was pretty intense. The tree I trimmed was a boogar, and then I drug all the big branches into the bon fire pile. Some of those branches were 4-6 inches in diameter & some of them were about 8-9 feet long, and I trimmed them with a hand saw. The tree was growing into some power lines, and it had to be trimmed before the power company gave us notice.

I raked the front yard, and cleaned up all the mulch. The husband got home, and was shocked that I was able to get so much done. He thought I had paid someone to come do everything. I just laughed at him, and told him that I did it all.

NSV came when I realized that I was not dying from exhaustion, I wasn't sore from all of the work, and I felt so good that I showered, and went to John's softball game. Pre-op I would have never done all of that without taking several breaks, and being absolutely worn out. I didn't stop for those 4 hours, and was hellbent on getting it all done.

Wow tiffy, you have way more energy than I do. I envy that. I am not as big of a slug as I used to be, but that does not make me very energetic.

Hey Tiffy, big hoot for all that major yardwork, you were doing some serious sweating!. I sometimes catch myself bopping up my stairs and doing something physical and stop to remember how out of breath I used to get bf and have to pace myself. Not now. I love the sleeve!

NSV for today is the pleasure of eating healthy food that I grew in my own garden! The week before I decided to have VSG, I had "directed" the planting of a vegetable garden in my back yard. My children and grandchildren had to do most of the work because my feet hurt too bad to walk and my belly was so big that I couldn't squat or lean over. The neighbors must have gotten quite a show, as I practically had to lie down in the dirt to help my grandson plant a seed. Anyway, since my surgery, I have been tending our little garden and just watching everyone else enjoy eating our beautiful vegies as they have started to ripen (because I was on full liquids/pureed food). Anyway...tonight I cooked fresh carrots, broccoli and yellow squash from the garden. I had a big fat Tomato that I was going to give away because I can't eat raw vegies yet--but instead, I peeled it and strained out all the seeds and made a fresh puree for the top of my chicken. What a blast to be able to eat a small meal of fresh foods and feel so completely satisfied! :o

Well, I'll post just 6 days post-op... I do NOT have the urge to go buy a scale and am TOTALLY fine waiting to weigh myself when I feel the need! This tool is giving me the ability to control what goes in my body and as long as I know i am getting the right things, no need to jump the scale 3X a day!

Haha, here is a funny one, I have stopped biting my nails... Go figure!

Cool Tiffy! I used to be able to work like a horse and do serious damage to yard work, but I haven't been able to work like that for several years. I thought it was my age, but after reading this, I'm sure that as I lose the weight, I'll be able to do more. I can't wait until the 8 week restriction for lifting is done and I can start to tackle my yard. I love working outdoors!

If they don't approve I am strongly considering going to see Dr. Aceves but I am super scared about surgery in Mexico..... someone make me feel better!!!

I was sleeved by Dr. Aceves on April 13. I'm really glad I did it. I feel like I have a chance at a whole new future that I thought was lost to me...being at a normal weight and living life more fully!

Okay all! It's been a while since I posted. Life has been taking too much time. Anyway, I have two NSV's that happened to me recently.

1. I had a size 10 dress from my wedding - I wore this dress as we left our wedding reception on the way to our Honeymoon. Cute little ivory thing - loved it but only wore it once cause it was getting a little tight. I wore this dress easily for my son's First Holy Communion last weekend. I've been able to wear it for a couple months but didn't have a reason until last weekend. I promised myself I would wear it more than once. TaDa!!! I posted picture in my album.

2. My favorite NSV recently happened last night. My husband has a group of guys that have played Texas Hold'Em for years. They rotate whose home, etc. Anyway, last night, this guy I've known for years but haven't seen in almost 11 months, Reggie, comes in and doesn't really say much to me as he proceeds upstairs to the gameroom. This morning my husband told me that Reggie asked him, "who was that women answering the door, where's your wife?" Apparently, Reggie thought we either split up or Patrick was having a scandalous affair - he didn't recognize me. I loved it!!! :tongue_smilie::thumbup:

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
