I am schedule to have surgery by Dr. Jayseelan on Feb 15 th and I am scared to death. I need to loose weight so bad. I am 56 yrs old and have a bad back. I weigh 221 and am starting to feel it in every bone in my body. I am a respiratory therapist so I have to be on my feet 12 hours a day. I have heard so many horror stories about throwning up all the time. Can you make me feel better about this. I don't want band so tight I can't eat at all. Is Dr. Jay pretty good at listening to his patients?

I live in Haltom City and I'm looking for a support group. Banded in October 2007, still struggling to keep weight off and be able to eat. I look great at 175, but can't drink anything. Just had a fill this week. Need some help! Would love to chat with anyone in the area!!

Hi Amy,

I'm in the Mckinney (North Dallas) area. I was recently banded (2/24/10) so I'm new to this. I don't know of any support groups in the area, I too have tried to find some. But if you need a buddy, feel free to email!

Ooh ... this is discouraging :( the last post was 2 months ago, and the one before that was 8 months ago. Doesn't look like this forum is very active. W-a-h.

I'm a newbie, just about to go on 3 month diet with surgery planned for early 2012. I live in Dallas. i'm 65 and weigh 415.

I was banded Sept 23 by Dr Smith. Have you gone to any of support groups? Are they worth the time?

I haven't been to any, but I hear they're pretty good. I'm in favor of support groups in general. It helps to meet with people who are going thru exactly what you're going thru because no one else really understands.

I'm still wrestling with what doctor to use. The one I have is the best, but he's located about 35 miles from me. I'd like to see someone closer.

So you're a newbie. How's it going so far?

Kate

Hey guys! We are doing a great support group on 11/15/11. Marquis Walker, a former Detroit Lion and currently a physical trainer, is coming to speak to our group. He has found a way to do a workout that will work you out, but not completely wear you out! He had me doing a work out in the middle of Starbucks and no one knew! It was amazing! Anyway, he lives in the Arlington/Ft Worth area, but will come to you if you have a small group (I think 4+). He is very inexpensive too.

Anyway, the support group is TLCEdge. It is free and I am just trying to get the word out. I really was shocked at his theory and the way he goes about things. A total new take on health and weight loss. Please feel free to come. All weight loss surgery patients are invited as well as their loved ones.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
