I'm on my way to Mexico! I don't know why but so far I've really not been too freaked out about going and having the surgery. It may all hit me once I arrive there, I don't know. Really I think the reason I'm okay with it all is because of this forum and the support that I've found in many of you here. I'm so very thankful for Vertical Sleeve Talk.

Keep me in your prayers! Once there I'm sure I'll be using my lap top to check in with you all!

Beth

Congrats for taking control of your life! I think you'll love the effects of your sleeve.

Take care of yourself and yes! POST! We want to know how you are doing.

We should set up some sort of angel program like they have on another board. The person having surgery picks someone to keep in touch with while they are in the hospital. We could even extend it to a mentor program as well, like a buddy system! We should work on that!

Enjoy your stay in Mexico... I mean, it is surgery but still... ;o)

I never really freaked out either and I attributed that to being sure this was right for me and that Dr. Aceves was the right surgeon -- and I obtained all that information from everyone on this forum. Sure, I was nervous as I'd never had surgery, however, I wasn't a basket case at all.

Good luck to you and I hope your entire experience is wonderful from beginning to end. Keep in touch and keep us posted as to how you are doing. We'll be anxious to "hear" from you.

Good luck, you will be fine. You get to enjoy one last meal tonight, may I suggest the Italian restaurant at the resort. I had the spinach fettucini with chicken, it was freakin awesome. (Stear clear from the lasagna.)

Hi Beth,

I just joined this forum today. I have just recently considered having gastric sleeve surgery and was researching where to have it and cost. How did you decide on where to go in Mexico?

Where are you in Missouri? I'm in North West Arkansas - about 1 mile from the Missouri border.

I hope everything goes well for you and I look forward to reading about your progress!

Alison

Beth -

Best of luck to you! You must've done your research and know this is right for you which is why you are so calm. That's great! Here's to a smooth surgery - update us when you can:)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
