There are weights for food, and there are lots of people who weigh their food.

Other people go by "cups", ie; I eat 1 cup per meal, or 2 cups per meal, etc.

I don't measure my food or weigh my food, other than to measure a 'serving' and that's only so I know how many calories I am getting. Things like chicken, I have to kind of guestimate, but they say that a 3 oz serving of meat is about the size of a deck of cards, and frankly, that's close enough for me.

Has your doctor given you any instruction on this? I know that lots of people get instructions on how to eat, or what their portion sizes should be from their doctor (but then some don't, just general guidelines like me).

Oh, my, this is exactly why I never bothered to weigh my food. It's not worth obsessing over! If you're eating slowly, and stopping when you are full, you will eat less than you did pre-banding and you will lose weight.

That's all there is to it. :)

Eat on small plate with 1/4 of plate protein, 1/2 of plate veggie, and 1/4 of plate starch/fiber is a good start. Low Fat Mayo, or Low Fat Margarine - 1 tablespoon is about the size of the end of your thumb, 3-4 ounces of protein about the size of your palm, 1/2 cup is about the size of your cupped hand. Our you can buy a food scale and lots of measuring spoons and measuring cups like I did. I learned these tricks in weight watchers. Good luck to you! www.fit.com is a great way to track your food, calorie intake, and nutrition.

I never eat over 8 ounces. My dr said i should not eat more than a cup. So i used to measure all my food. I am so restricted now i just measure by the spoon. I eat 2 spoon fulls.
