To fill or not to fill......

Recommended Posts

This is quite complicated and long but I'll try to condense it.

I have had two fills pretty big ones. I have a 14cc band currently with 8cc's in it. First fill 4•5 second 2cc's. Had 1•5 from surgery... I lose 3-4 llb every week consistently. I walk daily keep as busy as possible and watch carefully everything I eat or drink... Thought I was doing ok.. However had a phone call from my dietician..(very heated in the end) She feels my weight loss is too fast?? And needs slowed down..she was recommending no more fills!! I tried to explain I didn't think it was extreme and it was determination helping me lose rather than band restriction. (did have couple of really tight days after last fill but that did settle down quickly) I'm due to fly to uk for review tomorrow and was hoping for a small fill. I feel I'm quite close to being in the green but not quite.. But now feel unsure about my appointment/progress due to her comments. Can I still request a fill? Or do I have to follow wishes of the dietician?

If you are losing weight and are satisfied for 3-5 hours inbetween meals you shouldn't need one. You don't want to end up being to tight and then get sick or risk slippage.

Thanks for the reply. I'm usually satisfied for about three hours. I'll just see what they say. As long as my weight loss stays roughly the same as it is. I'm happy.. Thanks again

It does sound like you are already in the green zone. You definitely are losing fast. 3-4 lbs in a week is quite a lot. You stated that you are satisfied for 3 hours. SO I,personally, agree with your nutritionist, and would not recommend a fill. But I am NOT a doctor! Karen

I agree! You are doing fantastic! 3-4lbs per week is awesome! Tighter bands are associated with more problems. Plus, losing weight too quickly may lead to gallbladder problems. Keep up the great work!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
