June 2006 Band Crew

Recommended Posts

Pinkylee --When was the last Holiday season you can say that your weight staid pretty much the same?? I can't remember the last season I didn't gain weight. Don't fret over it. You will be fine.

Barbara --sorry to hear you had such terrible night with your band. These bands can be fickel.

I had a NSV shopping Sunday. I ran into Dillards and needed 2 pairs of pants and a sweater (I wanted a new out fit for xmas). I seriously have not tried on clothes since losing weight. I have primarly been shopping in my closet and picked up a pair of jeans at the store a few months back. Well, I pulled a pair of 16 pants off the wrack and the sales lady showed me a few more pairs similar. One pair she said, these look to run big, you better take a 14. Ofcourse, the regular 14's didn't fit but the reg 16s, every pair I tried on fit. One pair of pants I ended up with a 14W because the didn't have it in 16 R. The Sweater is a XLarge (Regular). I have not lost my boobs --band size yes, cup size no.

Melissa,

It's been since Christmas 1980 that I haven't worried about gaining weight!

I'm so happy and excited for you. Amazing to be in 16 land (which is really better than onderland). Remember 16 land doesn't last that long. Save some money for 14's!

hello all!

barb465-so are you recovered from your fill kicking in?

i seem to keep losing and finding the same 2 pounds! what is that all about? i did my own step route last night for 20 mins. boy was i panting and sweating at the end of that! i took last week off, and i think i shouldn't have.

even though the scale is not acting right i have a couple of nsv. the new bras that i purchased on my pre-honeymoon back in september now have lots of space in the cup. enough room to hold my cell phone and some dollar bills! also i went to the store last night to christmas shop and decided i owed myself at least one pair of pants that fit right (not scrapping the ground). but, instead of pants or jeans, i saw a denim skirt i wanted. well, i tried the 5/6. it was a tad snug, but still fit because it was that stretch denim. i didn't feel confident enough to wear it. the next size up was the 9/10. i got it! then last saturday i sent my husband to the store to get me some pantyhose for church on sunday. i told him to get size "c" which is down from my usual queen size (and pre-banding i was a queen plus). well, they didn't have any size "c" so he got size "b". and they fit! amazing. so, i guess the band is working, even if the scale isn't cooperating with me!

How exciting Melissa. I can't wait to see 16 again. I have some 18's waiting for me, but not quite there yet. Isn't this fun?

I looked at some pictures taken on our cruise in May and compared them to my face now. I knew I looked a little different, but I could really see the difference. When we see each other in June how will we know us? We can't look for the fat people. :) Guess we'll just look for all the smiling faces!!

Feeling a little better today. Looks like I'm able to recover from Monday's episode, which is a good thing. It means the fill is working and I still have some left in the band. I stayed on liquids yesterday, not much, and plan on eating soft again today.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I'm cruising the forum to find info on "head" hunger. I'm slipping back into old "thinking" habits, i.e.,

-Never tolerate an empty growling stomach

-Too little food will ruin your metabolism

-I can't possibly wait for dinner, I'm just famished!

-I'm weak (lightheaded) from lack of food

-I don't want to get too hungry before eating or I'll never be able to eat slowly.

There is a small amount of truth to much of this, but I'm eating enough calories and often enough to know this thought process is wrong most of the time and hurting my ability to lose.

Anyone out there willing to share their thoughts on "head hunger".

Well Pinky --I only bought 2 pairs of pants and I think this will get me thru the next couple of months. I still have plenty of shopping in my own closet. But once I'm out of 16's I'm in trouble and will have to do some serious shopping. I have asked for alot of gift cards this christmas because I know I will need clothes in the future.

Yes Barbara --it is exciting. It's emazing how when you are losing weight at times you can still feel like the "blob" you were "x" number of pounds ago (at least for me). Getting into smaller clothes reinforces your individual successes and for me motivates me to stay on track.

Anyone going to watch the Biggest Loser Final Episode tonight??? I can't wait for it. I didn't watch it religiously this season but it is so motiviating to see what other people have accomplished. Although I choose to lose weight with band, diet, and exercise --it's still very motivating. Hummmm who do you think will take home the prize of being the biggest looser?? I kind of think Erik will. He played a smart game. He lost just enough to stay in the game to the final 4 but had still a higher percentage of total body weight to lose when they sent the players home to do it on their own. It will be a nail biting episode I'm sure. Have you seen the comercial?? The final 4 look awesome!!

I love The Biggest Loser and in some ways feel what they do. Our only difference is they have a national TV audience as a motivator. We have our band and each other.

Erick seems to be the logical winner. One of the four (one of the gals) seems to be "throwing out the scales" in the promo commercial. My prediction is that she's pregnant, but don't quote me.

Today is my 6 month anniversary of my surgery date of June 13th.!

I look at my day of surgery pictures and I cry since Iam no longer that 290 pound woman and never will be her again!

Iam now 233 pounds and healthy and happy!

I gave myself the one gift that no one can ever give me -I GAVE MYSELF BACK MY HEALTH, MY LIFE, AND MY HAPPINESS!

I now have started my life over on a new path and Iam excited each day to find out where that path will lead me - ONE DAY AT A TIME!

Love and Hugs,

Lisa

Lisa you look emazing! I will take pics at Christmas and compare to last year at Christmas. Last years Christmas pic of me is the straw that broke and made me look into band surgery.

Pinky interesting perspective about the scale being tossed out. I think you might be right, there must be a pregnancy. But, that doesn't mean to throw away the scale. You don't have to become obese when your pregnant. Hummmm, can't wait to watch it tonight.

Lisa you look great. What a positive attitude you have. A lesson there for all of us. We share the same anniversary. I didn't realize it was exactly 6 months today until you said it.

I see such differences in myself from 6 months ago today. I can't wait for our June reunion as we all should have changed lots. Its slow for me, but I'm getting there. I know I will never see those 43 lbs again, and that's a good thing.

I HIT CHRISTMAS GOAL THIS MORNING!!!!!! I am so excited. When we set these goals a couple of months ago, I thought it was realistic but probably not plausable, and I did it!!!!!! It is so cool! I am actually back to where I was in high school. I can't believe it!!!!!

There are several of you so close also, YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

Congratulations Reginia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is terrific. And look at you below the goal and with 12 more days to go!

Your right there are several real close. Let's start seeing those progress reports.

I'm 26 lbs from my Christmas goal, but its OK. I still feel good about what I've done. It was an agressive goal and I'll get there in February.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
