Too tight? Or is this typical?

I have 5cc in a 10cc band and I can eat Soups, oysters, some meats, and veggies.

I CANNOT eat breads, rice, some granola bars or chicken breast otherwise I get stuck and have to vomit because the pain in my chest won't go away.

I know some people can't eat breads or rice and dry meats. Is this normal? Am I too tight? Or are these things I just have to give up.

I'm ok either way.

Can you do me a favor...please use the enter key when typing out long winded posts of nonsense....and please get someone to upload your avatar correctly...it's rather annoying...

Wow Nana! You have got to be the nastiest person on this forum!

This post is NOT harassing newbies...there are MANY newbies that sent me private messages THANKING ME...to let them know how to minimize and avoid any potential issues that CAN happen with their bands...

Sorry if you are not a proactive person that cares about their health...if you feel that this thread scares you...just don't read it...no one is point a gun to your head to make you read what I have to say..if you don't like it or don't think what I am saying IS TRUE...don't open up the thread...

You let the weight......now you need to lose the ATTITUDE..... Do research, maybe there's a band for that too. Lmao!

Old band- new band- why did you get a replacement band?

My old band sprung a leak. No fault of mine, just bad luck. So I chose to get a new band, because after extensive testing, it was proven that the band works really well for me. Good weight loss, good maintenance and I've suffered no physical damage from having had the band long term. :)

I won't respond to your stupidity anymore because you are NOT worth it! Stop calling people names and go look at yourself in the mirror.

When this topic die out...no more warnings...it seems like ignorance keep it going...I constantly get alerted on the topic...so as long as ignorance keep it hot...I guess I will keep educating... :P

Because I don't agree with your sky is falling approach to "educating", doesn't mean I or anyone else is ignorant or "lives in a bubble". Quite the opposite, maybe we have educated ourselves and realize your OPINION is just that...your OPINION. I'm glad you didn't try and educate my surgeon as you say you did yours.....he'd have laughed you out of town. Did they do that to you on OH?

Great! and thank god....Apparently what I am saying is getting to you, otherwise you would not respond to my "nonsense"...in my sarcastic voice...

WOW I can't stand the anger that is going on here. As an outsider it looks pretty bad. I don't think Nana has done anything wrong and has answered questions no differently then anyone else. I feel like there are a lot of bullies on here and not sure if I want to be part of this anymore.

Great! and thank god.

Nasty! I hope everyone who reads these posts SEE you for what you really ARE.

I only see her as someone who wants to help, honestly.

They know that I've not done anything wrong...I guess they are trying to "gang" up on me" with "evil bullying rules"....

I post nothing but FACTS...if that hurt -- so be it...

But I am too strong and smart for that to let ignorant strangers try to bully me from behind a keyboard.......

I post nothing but FACTS...if that hurt -- so be it....

Hahahaha facts my butt! Facts need research. You're experience is not research. Funny because all I simply posted on this forum was about the stats posted being terrifying. You're rude and thinks your experience is "bible". Get off your pedestal.

Could it be that my skin tone is a bit too brown to be a 'KNOW IT ALL" I've had that before...others say the same thing..but the value I bring is priceless to some, but again...many probably don't want it coming from a brown black woman...and I am surely not an angry black woman...my life is too good for that...

I am truly here to help... I've just seen so many going down a path of lap band destruction and MAYBE...JUST MAYBE some people would like to do things the RIGHT WAY with the band...and .those that want my help great and...for those who don't please ignore me and believe in the lap band fairy .LOL..

Did you legit just pull the "race card". Get over yourself... If that's not ignorance I have NO idea what is...

*AHEM*... if I may interrupt for some statistical assistance

All the stats posted earlier were true, however the problem is twofold: Some of those studies are very old and use the old 4cc band. This is makes the study no longer valid because it doesn't apply to the new generation of gastric band. Plus, it's common knowledge that the old 4cc band is no longer used in the US because of it's high complication rate.

The second issue is the fact most studies only look at overall complications rather than patient caused complications versus band caused complications. If you're looking at overall complications, I'd very much believe the higher (scarier) statistic. I'm no expert, but after reading these forums for 20+ months is sadly apparent that many people are going into this surgery totally ignorant to the facts. I don't know if it's a lack of doctor education or them not taking the time to educate themselves (or both?) but it's no surprise so many end up with problems. What's sadder is, I read some threads on here where people are walking around for months or years with a band WAY too tight. I think to myself "well, we'll be seeing them back complaining about how evil the band is when they have a slip". Sure enough... I have lost count of the number of times I was (sadly) right.

There is a study that is very recent, included a major larger number of participants, and actually makes the distinction between true band complications versus patient caused complications. This study only shows 5% of all complications are by no fault of the patient. The rest of the complications, or 95%, are because of patient error.
